This is worth a thread because we could soon end up confirming our FL place. We need some positivity.

A win at Swindon (put us on to 45 points) and defeats for Barnet and Chesterfield keep us up. We are due an away win, Swindon are on a poor run of form, they are unlikely to make the play-offs and there are always shocks at the end of a season.

A win at Swindon and 2 draws for Barnet and Chesterfield puts us in a very good position. Barnet cannot catch us and Chesterfield would need to win their last 3 games to pip us on GD.  (This also asumes that we do not get any points from our last 2 games.  One point would put us safe.   Chesterfield playing Barnet on the last day does not make any difference).

A draw at Swindon (we would be on 43 points) and defeats for Barnet and Chesterfield also puts in a  good position.  Both Barnet and Chesterfield would need to win all their remaining 5 games to finish above us. A very tall order.   Barnet could reach 43 points so we would need another point to be absolutely safe. Chesterfield could reach a maximum of 44 points.  It would help if Chesterfield did not win at Barnet on the last day.  (Both teams could not finish above, but 1 could).

Ok, lots of ifs and buts for various games. Stranger things have happened though.  Visualisation is half the achievement in sport.

Visualisation might help if you're actually playing, but if you're just watching (or doing something else)....well, unless you believe in telekinesis ....

Speculating is fun but  of course will have no bearing on the outcome re Saturdays results. I do agree though that this weekend is pivotal; a good or reasonable set of results then great. If it goes badly though I reckon we will find it very hard to suddenly win a game or two in the most trying of situations.

On Thursdays and Fridays, I often think we're going to win. It's Saturdays and Sundays which are the problem.

I have no idea what will happen, but I'm sure MJ will know all of these permutations and combinations, like the ex-Trader he is.  At any point during a game, he'll know the bigger picture and whether we should be going for it.

Goal difference means finishing level on points isn't an option, so a win is the best way to sort that.  It's possible that even with us drawing toward the end of our next two games, MJ might roll the dice at the end in order to try to kill it off, especially if the others are losing.

Think positive.. 2 months ago a director told us there's every reason we could get another 20 points.

Well so far we've picked up 6, so three more wins from the last 3 games and we have got 15 out of that 20 😆

Grim Rob will be able to confirm or correct but I think there's only about a 1 in 4 chance of us being safe by sat night or a 1 in 3 chance of us being a worse position.this is relative to Barnet as I've ignored chesterfield

In the space of ten minutes yesterday I walked through the town centre and overheard three seperate conversations along the lines of this thread. Seems the whole Town might have gone all Rachel Riley...

It's a lot worse than 1 in 4. We need to beat Swindon for starters which must be 1 in 6 at least. Then the other two need to both lose which is maybe 1 in 2 each. So (back of an enveleope) I would say there is around 1 in 24 chance of us being safe tomorrow.

I think Swindon will be our toughest game out of the three we have left, a draw would be a decent result I think, we need Morecambe to lose so they go into the Barnet game needing a win to ensure safety for them, I think we’ll draw Saturday, beat County and draw at FGR meaning we’d stay up. Bloody hope so!

If Barnet and Chesterfield lose tomorrow I'd happily take a 4-0 Swindon win.

Yeah man, we gotta invade the pitch and act like we won the league because we barely scraped being non league again lol. I for one will go right home and hope this situation never happens again if we survive.

I find myself fully agreeing with Kris2    But spot on.  We shoudn't be celebrating and neither should the players.  Of course if we do beat County and end up staying up they should enjoy the end of that game.
But from 7pm onwards most should be seriously looking for a new job.  While the fans breathe a huge sigh of relief and then start to remember just what a sh1t season with have had. !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I don’t think anyone will be happy but you can’t deny the relief that would wash over us all and celebration will occur. For me the best part will be the Slade era will be put to bed and I’m genuinely hopeful that Jolley will be able to achieve things others have failed abysmally. That’s if we stay up of course........UTM

Did you hear Jolley on RH last night saying to Matt Dean  " if I'm still here next season "

For a brief moment, I thought maybe he'd been brought in just to save us and then was going to move on in the summer, which would then allow Fenty to bring Slade back in to have that pre-season spending spree they were promising back in January that never got the chance to be put in to action

Surely not....

I can remember the pitch invasion celebrations at Bournemouth after losing, surviving because Luton where deducted a record amount of points, we knew then Fenty was the man to take us forward and we would never risk getting in that position again.
We would be laughing at teams like Bournemouth over the next few years,  it feels like groundhog day, especially as both the mighty Forest Green and ourselves will be sweating on the last day

This is seen as success nowadays our club as been driven into the ground by the board and their penny pinching policies

I don't think it's penny pinching as such, given the daft squad size. It's more about incompetent management.
