John Fenty leaving the board is seen by many a death knell for GTFC due to finances but I don`t know what he puts in anymore in real terms? A Club with an average gate well over 3k should be able to self fund if Managed correctly a good start would be to get out the hangars on and some expertise in.

Everyone's talking about an exit strategy and price on here Rob, a framework created for transition. Even if JF walked tomorrow, the club would survive and most probably flourish immediately anyway. He's no Dave Whelan is he? It's getting to the stage where anything is going to be better than the last fifteen years of quite probably four relegations, one non-relegation, early exits from cup competitions, six years in non-league and the resulting sheer contempt between the board and the fans. We are not a healthy club. If there ever was to be void in the future, it emphasises the need for the Trust to properly get its act together to build something that the fans can believe in again. If they need extra help in forming a new direction, there will be a queue forming of willing helpers..
Going by the incumbent's record, I'm sure a new GTFC board could be filled with a greater number of capable professionals. The club and the town need a boost like OP, but on a much bigger scale. I think it can be achievable. Sitting on hands and worrying about the unknown is not an option..
Agreed that there are plenty of "exit strategies" being put forward but none of them are from JF are they? There is so much vitriol attached to the Fenty Out mantra that it clouds the issue of survival for the club. It may be that for a few games/weeks things would be carried on with a burst of adrenalin and enthusiasm but after that .......? It will take a lot of hard work from someone to bring together any number of "greater professionals" but who will that someone be? That is why it would be sensible to have less of the acid keyboard attacks and more encouragement to JF to be a part of a peaceful handover during a more peaceful period. |

Based on what? I imagine there would be a difficult transition period while others came forward found their feet. It might take a few iterations to get the right individuals in key positions. If it were literally tomorrow it would be even harder than an orderly transition at the end of the season.
There's no doubt that the football club will survive in some form whatever happens but to say it would flourish immediately is absurdly optimistic and downright naive.
Boost in season ticket sales, home attendances and merchandise next season for a start.. JF is only spending the club's ever decreasing income anyway. He leaves, income goes up, we're better off. It's not like we'll miss his expertise in anything is it? What's so scary about the worst and least successful chairman the club's ever had leaving? FFS, If JF left tomorrow, he's not in any kind of position to harm the club unless he wants to harm himself, planet Earth won't stop spinning.. |

I think this is for the end of the season or if indeed we do get relegated before.
For now all our attention needs to be on the football by showing the team our full support.

IMO if we get relegated then he should write off the " benign loan ". The amount owed is what it would cost us in relegation to non-league and that is solely as a result of JF's decision to bring Slade in and keep backing him. JF's mistake therefore JF should bear that cost.

The likelihood of him ever getting his money back is slim at best, nobody will come in and throw that kind of cash around, he may as walk away now and cut his stress levels. |

Lets look what will happen if Fenty did walk, Well we will need a new chairman even though he was not one, I am sure if there are plenty of business men who support the Town who would step in , BUT They would not have anything to do with Fenty that's why they have stayed away up to now, Mr shut up Marley is not the only accountant in Grimsby so he could be replaced if he went, That nice Mr Day could stay for me but if he went too I am sure there must be another solicitor in Grimsby, As for the race horse man he would not be missed, So to all the doom merchants out there we will be OK and I bet there is enough evidence that a good solicitor could find that Fenty has said enough times the loans are benign so do not need paying back but as a gesture of goodwill the club will pay Mr Fenty say £50,000 pa if he agrees to stay away.
