We've now failed to score in 20 of our 40 league matches this season.

Just 32 goals scored in that time at an average of 0.8 goals per game.

7 in our last 19 at an average of 0.37.

Sam Jones scored 6 (and missed a couple of pens) by November and he was dropped then sold in January.

Our current top scorer is Mitch Rose with 5.

Have we had a worse season in front of goal?

I have worked this out in my head so I could be wrong, but I make it that we have only scored one goal in open play in the last 720 minutes, 12 hours of football.

Since Vernam scored at Colchester ( on 38 minutes ) I've just checked back

We have had 11 games since then so 11 x 90 = 990

Add 52 minutes on to that from that last goal at Colchester and it gives you 1042 minutes ( and that's not including stoppage time so in those 12 games, that could easily have amounted to  another 50-60 minutes overall )

So in all that time the only goals we have scored in open play was Jackson's on his debut and Berrett's last gasp equaliser against Port Vale

Was it Brian Clough who used to say it only takes a second to score  a goal.....

Well we've managed two in about 65000 or so

Unbelievable Jeff!!

Even that’s being incredibly generous - Jackson’s was from a corner and Berrett’s was directly from a throw in!

We’ve scored 15 at home all season. For a season ticket holder in the Lower Smiths or Pontoon, that’s £28 per goal.

It’s disgusting really.

Sorry mate but all the maths came via my calculator...

I do remember a bit of algebra from my school days - they said one day it might be of some use

F to the power of n multiplied by S + W and there you have it..... not quite the big bang but more of an implosion

Very good. I wasted 5 years at Clee Grammar by playing football every night instead of homework, so once more I bow down to your mathematics .
