What do you think we should do,?
A win is highly unlikely so maybe we should go and try for a draw,
Go with a back 5 so todays 4 plus Suliman,
Do we need a striker on the pitch ? They don't seem to be able to score so pack the midfield as well,
In other words park the bus,
OR
Do you think we should go another way ?

I don't think we have striker Pete - so 'park the bus' for another 0-0 would be my choice.

Suspect that several of today’s bench will start, notably McAllister and Woodford who MJ seems to like

I'd go with a 4-3-1-2 and try and be solid in the middle of the pitch. McAllister, Summerfield and Clifton in the middle would be reasonably good in my opinion. Sit McSheffrey behind the strikers and give him a bit of a free role. Up top, take your pick really, Wilks and Vernon maybe?

The dismal efforts when in glorious positions proves we have no threat up front good strikers are goal hungry we do not have any such animal. That first big miss when he turned the defender and only had the keeper to beat yet never even hit the target and was nearer hitting the corner flag summed our season up for me.

Assuming everyone is fit enough I would go:
McKeown Mills Clarke Collins Fox McAllister DJ Summerfield Clifton McSheffrey Hooper
I think the back 4 played well today so would build on that. We need to pack the midfield and hope we can keep back to back clean sheets. DJ is a willing runner and offers much more defensively than Dembele whilst McSheffrey has to be in the team for his delivery. Hooper won his fair share of aerial battles and you would hope with McAllister sitting, the other two could support centrally. Get the ball out wide to DJ to drive towards the box and win a penalty.
I think Wilks would be better suited to the last half hour when Wycombe are tired and his pace can be most effective.

Keep the defence the same, they did alright today. But it’s going to be hard against a front three of Mackail-Smith, Akinfenwa and Nathan Tyson. Wycombe are pretty similar to us in that they have an older squad, but they are bigger, stronger and probably quicker. I’d hope McAllister is back in to combat Wycombe's midfield 3. Put him in a deeper role, put RHJ onto the other wing and bring McSheffrey into the middle. I actually thought Wilks did alright today bar his miss - he is stronger than I thought.
Mckeown Mills Clarke Collins Fox McAllister RHJ Summers McSheff Dembele Wilks

I can't disagree with a word of that Stevenage were poor and they were happy enough with a point. Wycombe will be decent and desperate for the win. I just can't see anything but a comprehensive home win (to nil).

I've got a feeling we will surprise one or two people come Monday and saw improvement against Stevenage. Created quite a few chances and could easily have gone in three up against a packed defence. I would keep the same team especially for the first half-we have hardly had the "same" team two matches running and a lot of our woes are down to nervousness and a lack of confidence.

McKeown
Mills Clarke Collins Fox
DJ Summerfield McAllister Woolford
Matt Hooper
Doubt McSheffrey can play twice in 4 days and I suspect you’d get more out of Hooper with a target man upfront. If you remember he actually caused lots of problems for Wycombe in the home game and scored a wonder goal, so I’d leave him in. I think Woolford’s done ok in the games I’ve seen with MJ as manager and he said Dembele and Wilks have injuries. Leave thr back 4 as it is because we looked solid and compact yesterday and McAllister will add some combat and discipline in front of the back 4. Summerfield may struggle to play twice in 4 days given he’s been injured but I’d still play him as the alternatives are the poor Clifton yesterday and the equally irrelevant Berrett! Matt’s got heart and if he could use him physique more cleverly then he’d cause sides all sorts of problems but he just seems to have the ball bounce off him but he does give his all and that’s what’s needed.

Putting Suliman in against man-mountain Akinfenwa would be a mistake IMO, unless we're going to go with 5 at the back

We looked very marginally better against opponents who were themselves down in the doldrums, but they came closest to winning it with the header that hit the post and subsequent goal line clearance. We offer next to nothing in any area and it is just a question whether Chesterfield and or Barnet can catch us in the time that is left. I am surprised the new manager hasn't been able to influence the team more if I am honest; I thought he would have insisted on a high tempo pressing game and get some momentum going. He was a very brave man for taking the job on and I hope it is a happy ending, but both Barnet and Chesterfield have been inching closer over many weeks and I expect them to overtake us in the next few weeks sadly.

How could we play a high pressing game with the players at our disposal? Not enough athleticism or mobility in the midfield. Slow centre backs that would get caught out if we pushed up to press. And not a lot of pace out wide or up front either to make pressing more effective. I agree that he hasn't had too much impact but he's really hamstrung by time and squad constraints.

It's pretty essential to play three centre halves against Akinfenwa. They launch the ball to him and if one of our slow centre halves is left turning after the second ball then we're in trouble. The problem won't be marking Akinfenwa, it will be the one v one for the second ball. Suliman's covering pace in a three is a must in my opinion..

He will stick 442 IMO - I think he has said players are most comfortable with that
Same back 5 DJ for Dembele McAllister/Clifton for Rose (in fact, Berret for Rose if pushed)
Up top? If Matt was anywhere near good enough at holding up the ball I'd play him as lone striker...but he isn't
Wilks and Hooper offer movement (worked quite well first half) - but both faded second half
Titanic, rearranging and deck chairs spring to mind...

Having just watched the extended highlights form yesterday, I think if we’ve got a chance of doing anything then we need McSheffrey and Summerfield in the team. Hopefully they’re both fit enough to play two games so close to each other.

McSheffery definitely brings a bit more composure and nearly always picks out the best pass/option - usually its something quite simple but it stands out when we have so many others who dither, delay and choose the wrong pass/option.

A point would be a massive bonus going into the two biggest home games in our history. I know M.J. keeps denying it but to me, these two matches WILL decide whether we stay in the league. Lets not beat about the bush here if we do go down this team is not good enough to bounce back and Fenty and co will NOT invest the required money to do so. We will be down for years.

I would play the same back four again, take mitch rose well out the game and stick in mcallister, clifton on the wing, mcshef and jackson if avail up front or if not give DJ a go up there, got nothing to lose with trying out different goal scoring approaches.

My concern with the same back four would be that it's too similar to when we played them at home ( Fox now instead of Dixon) Akinfenwa totally bossed our defence that afternoon with Collins being sent off because he couldn't keep up with the pace of their attack, leading to him fouling and getting red-carded I think the idea of a five man defence is probably the minimum of what's going to be needed otherwise we'll be on another hiding to nothing

I can pick a keeper, that’s obvious and a back 4 where the only decision would be Suliman or Clarke for me. In midfield it’s Summers then I’m struggling to choose a side that could win a game never mind one away at one of our real bogey teams. I’d like to see us go play a man in front of the back 4 as that worked well last season versus them before Gunning went off but I don’t think we have got anyone who could be trust not to give away soft free kicks
So,
Macca Suliman Clarke Collins Mills Clifton Summers McAlister DJ Vernon Hooper

Agree with that, Akinfenwa has scored 17 and has 12 assists to his name this term. He's a real danger,we could do with him getting a severe dose of the squits tomorrow morning . UTM.

Its going to be a heavy pitch with rain all day if the forecast is right, So with a bit of luck Akinfenwa will get stuck in the mud, Get Suliman in the back 5 to chase the quicker players with Clarke and Collins marking Fat Boy, Although I have been told its all muscle. He stills weighs a lot and will not like the mud.

We rarely beat Wycombe, even when we have a decent side, so i'm not expecting that to change. All out defence, or all out attack, or a balance of the two? Won't make much difference in my opinion, but i live in hope as ever.
