If Operation Promotion was the 'worst thing that happened ', isn't it slightly ironic that it funded our only successful season during the Fenty years?

OP is the specific that I have against Fenty. He let it happen, rode on the back of it along with his manager and we scraped back into the league. Even if we leave aside any negative thoughts about Fenty and managerial appointments, the thing that really sticks in my gullet is the lack of real investment in the team immediately following promotion. OP was supposed to be the start of something, not the end of it.

I suspect some of that was down to Hurst but the overriding impression was that the Fenty pursestrings for signings were held tight shut. Even after roller coasting with Bignot the Fenty line was once again consolidation with minimal investment.

He thinks fans should be grateful for what he has done. I think HE should be grateful there are any fans left after what he has done. OP was a big investment for a lot of people who dug deep and it has been wasted. The key signing of Bogle brought a good sale but the team has shown little or no benefit from the cash. Knowing that all that effort from so many supporters to back the club has gone to waste makes the current position even more depressing.

He had no f*cking choice in the matter for once. He had nowt to do with it. That's why it was successful.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

It's actually amazing that in 15 years the only thing that has properly gone right for the club was the one thing he did not touch. If ever there was an indicator that he's been a complete disaster, it must surely be that. Yet he still doesn't realise how woefully unqualified he is to be custodian of this club.

Looking forward to a brighter future now Fenty has gone.
