Let's all be honest here -  nobody expected us to get anything from Lincoln or Coventry away. The real test, and the on that will ultimately save or condemn us is the home games vs Stevenage, Chesterfield, & and Barnet and the away fixture at Forest Green. Those are the important games and ones we HAVE to gain points from. If we do that then we'll be playing league football next season.

Despite the last couple of results, which I actually think have flattered the opposition somewhat, I've seen enough from MJ to think he can get the couple of wins that are needed. Take Lincoln and Coventry games, we played well in spells and were undone by errors bourne out of a lack of confidence IMO. Call it rose tinted specs, and call it blind optimism, call it what you will but I still genuinly believe there is enough quality in this squad to beat the teams mentioned above.

This HAS to start against a confidence-depleted and out-of-form Stevenage side on Good Friday. IF we can get that first win, I think that will be the start of a more positive future under Michael Jolley.

It's the hope that kills you as they say but that's all we have left!

As was I Rodley!

So do we just roll over and give up with 7 games and 21 points to play for?

No I agree with you. The 'we're already down' stuff is bullshit. We're still 6 points clear even if Chesterfield have games in hand. We can absolutely still stay up but we need to find something fast before next Friday.

If Chesterfield lose tomorrow we're not much worse off than a couple of games ago. Our fate is more or less in our own hands still. Two wins at BP might well be enough, three hopefully will be .

A goal feels like a big ask at the moment.

If Chesterfield win their 2 games in hand we have real problems

My calculations, even if Chesterfield win all 3 games (very doubtful), if we beat them at BP then we will only be separated by goal difference. However unbelievable,  given our run, it IS still in our hands and will all come down to 3 or 4 cup final against teams in the bottom 6

We CAN do this!

What about Barnet? They're still 7 points behind us - just try to comprehend for a minute how excrement they must be!

Reality ! Well for a start there are far too many on here with delusions of grandeur regarding GTFC. There is no point in living in the past ,whether up or down the divisions. We can all blame the directors or management but the reality is the players that we have are not performing to a standard that is satisfying to watch or produce the expected results .The standard of football in our league,as I have said in previous posts,is atrocious whereas I believe we often watched more entertaining matches in the Conference.Unfortunately the status of being in a lower league really offends those who believe we should be high flying. The reality is that we are a small town with a low catchment area and very limited on investment both on and off the field. For the sake of local moral I do hope we stay up but it's not the end of the world in reality.

Bigger than many above us in the League.

And why do we have players who are not performing? Why can we not compete with smaller towns that aren't bankrolled by sugar daddies?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,

How do you define bigger when smaller towns(population wise) are above us unless you're looking to history ,which unfortunately counts for nothing when you're propping up the league.

As for why the players are not performing- I can only assume they are not up to the playing standard required and results don't lie.

As for the reason why can't we compete , the same as above. Poor decisions and bad management from the board down to the last three managers (I include Hurst for breaking up a winning team) also count for our demise.

If we do survive the drop at the end of the season there needs to be wholesale changes in attitude from the club as well as a big clear out of non performers.

This is unfortunately the reality of the situation but without any easy fixes anytime soon.

We've pretty much rolled over in the majority of the last 18 games.

I do admire your optimism but I have not seen anything to suggest we can get the wins we need.

In the second half we were lucky to get away with conceding only 4 goals, and having to rely on the likes of Woolford and Vernon is very depressing.

That psychologist M.J. has brought in as got to get those players heads right it's not easy most of us think we are doomed but it is very much in our own hands JUST ONE frigging win next weekend would really boost our chances.

Three games under Jolley, 1 point against a rival and 2 loses against top teams away from home. Let’s wait until we play our home matches against much poorer teams before we totally panic shall we? UTM

We only have to match Chesterfield and Barnet. In fact we don’t even have to do that as we have a six point cushion.

I understand Chesterfield have two games in hand (after they play today) but I’d take points on the board everyday of the week.
