I'm with Les on this unfortunately. It's 2 from the current bottom 3 going down. The likes of Crewe, Morecambe and PV are easily going to scrape enough points together to be safe.

Thing is, they all pretty much play each other in the run in. If a couple of those go on a decent run and become safe they beat others around us during that run.

That helps us, but only if we start to get the points ourselves of course.

Three home wins would be a disaster for us

It wouldn't be great but I wouldn't say it would be a disaster. If Barnet or Chesterfield were at home then it would though.

It's impossible to guess what results will favour us the most. It may seem at the time that a particular result is good/bad for us, but turn out not to be the case. If we can win 2 or 3 it won't matter, especially if those wins are against our relegation rivals. Who we beat (if we beat anyone) will be almost as important as a win itself.

Not fully buying into this about only wanting Barnet & Chesterfield to lose tbh

If Crewe or FGR lose, and Port Vale lose, then Crewe or FGR will be on the same points, and same amount of games played.

Vale will be 1 point ahead, having played the same.

The weekend comes round, we miraculously get a 1-0 win at Coventry
Crewe lose away at Newport
FGR lose at home to Mansfield
Vale lose away to Wycombe

Then we could be 3 points above Crewe or FGR all of a sudden and the table looks a lot better.

Very very optimistic i know, but not impossible

I agree. Crewe have lost the most games in the league and i want them to keep on losing and add pressure on them. I think VGR will be safe anyway and i'd much rather play them as a safe club if we need something from them.

I would rather play them with both of us safe

A nice day out at the end of a horrible season.

What may be an important factor for us is the teams having to play 2 games a week in succession, especially at this time of the year. The they often say for team fighting at the other end is better to have the points on the board rather than games to play. Ok do we don't have the points on the board but at least the team can rest midweek and give MJ more time to work with them on the training ground.

Port Vale losing at home

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”
