Dear God I know I have not spoken to you for a long time but I am desperate,

Or  should I say we need some divine help,

Could you please help our beloved team team win a few games before the end of the season so we can stay in the football league

I can not vouch for anybody else but if you can find time in your busy schedule to help us,

I will give you a little pray every day for the rest of my life,

I can not promise to go to church apart from weddings and funerals but I will always remember you every night before I go to bed and thank you for eternity,

Your humble servent who might just be converted if you grant this wish. xx

There has been more doom and gloom since we lost a match last Sat, that we were probably going to lose anyway.

Jolley may improve the team by 20% by getting (better) injured players back in the team, or recruiting new (better) players.

Hopefully, he is continually working on the players' confidence to maybe improve their collective performances by say another 20%.  A little bit of success can make a huge difference psychologically.

We do not need to be even that good to survive..  A lion was chasing 2 men.  One man said "Hell, we are not going to outrun that lion!". His mate said "Who cares about outrunning the lion - I just want to be in front of you!".  We just need to finish above 2 other very poor teams. We have home advantage in 2 crucial games.

We need to focus mainly on beating Chesterfield and taking at least a point from Barnet.  The crowd can play a part in doing this.  By then the 2 x 20% team improvements should hopefully be paying dividends. Any other win(s) or draws should then be enough.

Last time we were in this position, we beat Gillingham and Barnet at home with good performances, but went down anyway, losing the last game away at a team who were in the league for the first time in their history. Ring a bell.....?

Gillingham was the year before (Conlon's debut IIRC), aka the Fenty on the shoulders season.

Ah! I just seem to remember us having a couple of wins at home that gave us hope, when it was actually 1 win in each season. That's more GTFC.
