How do we know it was a false economy and not just a decision by Slade.  He seems to have been a terrible judge of players

Reid and Diodge would have a been a expensive pairing to bring in but paying dividends I don’t class them as in a relegation fight their safe

I think that hits the nail on the head. Most clubs in League 2 couldn't splash the sort of cash FGR have and have to turn to other more risky means of ensuring survival.

With the amount of money FGR will end up spending this season, it would be ridiculous for them to be relegated. Amusing, yes, but ridiculous.

Throwing money at a problem doesn't always make it work, but it certainly helps.

On the other hand, selling/getting rid of many of your better players when in a relegation scrap doesn't tend to improve things. Funny, that.
