These are Town's 6 worse winless streaks, and the date of the last match in the streak. The current streak is join fifth. Five of them have happened in my lifetime

These stats show that the only manager, to have 'firmly bucked the trend' against significant runs of winless games since 2000,  is Paul Hurst. I can remember being sat next to a smashing chap in the Findus Stand, who said he was Vice President of Boston Utd and the managers of his club, Hurst and Scott, were doing really well: - a couple of weeks later these were our manager's. And no matter what, the fortunes of Grimsby Town were reversed and promotion was finally gained.

So you can see why the board has finally seen the light (after messing it up again) - in terms of trying to discover another Paul Hurst.

What a year 1952 was (except for George VI)! 11 wins at the start of the year and 8 at the beginning of the 52/53 season. 32 games without a draw from April 1933 to February 1934!
