Telegraph seem to think it will be Wilko or Askey.

Lets hope Askey gets his chance.

His post match interview over the weekend was something that really got my attention:

They’re a great group of lads and it’s great to work with them. They’re all good characters and that’s what I’ve always tried to do at Macclesfield, get decent lads who work hard and want to do well. Despite what’s going on off the field, they’ve stuck together, there’s no moaning and they just want to achieve something as a group. Their aim is to go and play in League football.
We have got good players, who can play at a higher level and it’s full credit to them for the way they’ve conducted themselves all season.

i know a few that would fit in that category or decent lads who work hard and want to do well:
Macca
Pearson
Disley
Etc....

They are 4 points top, with a game in hand, and probably have a bottom 6 budget in that league.

So for me, it would be a very good appointment, as long as he can work hard with the crap we currently have, and keep us up

Reading their article it doesn’t seem that the Wilko or Askey choice is based on anything other than bookie’s odds or the odds being suspended. Top quality journalism as per.

Neither of these choices are inspiring - I'd love to hear that we have gone for someone like Sami Hyppia, or even Teddy Sheringham - guys that have 'recently' played at a higher level, have contacts in the game, have managed on a budget, and can inspire some pretty dejected players.

The recipe for survival this season is simply to inject some enthusiasm into the squad, they need to know that they are playing for their careers - being associated with a 12 game (or more) winless streak will not help them find a new club in the summer. Stepping up and showing some heart, which will bring "footballing luck" will.

This has got to be wind up surely? Hyypia has no knowledge of the English lower leagues and hasn't managed a team for nearly two years. If that wasn't enough, there is no chance of us getting a manager who was in charge of Bayer Leverkusen for two years  .

As for Sheringham, he was an abject failure at Stevenage two seasons ago, why would he be any better here? Why would he be better than Askey who has a decent record on a shoestring budget? What an utterly bizarre suggestion.

Yeah, but we could play Sheringham up front to increase our firepower.

flipping god help us if this is the choice

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Tbh I wouldn't mind Askey.
Always thought our games against Macclesfield were a good advert for the conference and with a bigger budget to play with, I'd be more than happy...
