It's been over a decade when that saying was true now the only thing to worry an away team is the dog excrement between where the coaches park and how far they have to walk to the changing rooms.

Hate to say it put Wilko seems as bright as a 5 watt bulb. His interview after the game was as dull as dish water and offered no more than a moronic Slade interview. Wilko clearly needs to step aside as soon as possible. He just droned on in his interview and gave us zero confidence in his ability to drag us out of this hole. Town are still in rapid decline, and Feny needs to splash some cash and get us a reasonable manager with some CHARISMA before it is too late. Wilko seems to have the charisma levels of a bucket of sand. Probably a very nice guy, just not manager material.
We could easily fall through the trap door this season..................

True. It was a dreadful interview that inspired me not one jot. Same platitudes. We've been working on things in training and we'll be working on things in training again...unlucky with injuries... we scored a goal (only because the ref gave us one!)...Oh and of course he never saw or heard anything about the hand gesture incident. Truly insipid stuff but then actually what else could he say? Terrible times.

What you can say about Wilco and it started to come out at the end unlike some of the nerds that pulled on a Town shirt today he is Town in his heart and I'm sure this situation is praying on his mind as much as it is ours. Again unlike many of the players he will possibly know how much failure hurts us. I wish him well in reality but he's not the man to move us forward and listening today I think he feels that too.

No different today to how he's come across in previous weeks. There's nothing there that would make me think things were on the up and he was the man. Look at his selections. The shape. The result. The post match interview. Wilkinson was a contributing part of the failure of the current squad. He was part of the management arrangement. What did people expect? The caretaker isn't up to it. The squad isn't up to it.

We had 5 players on the pitch today that came from relegated sides. The York duo were part of a side that got the lowest points total i can ever remember. Clarke from relegated Coventry. Hooper and Kelly from Port Vale. Not to mention 4 loanees at various stages of the game. When the management is bringing in such winners, sanctioned by the board, you can see why we are in the mess we are.
If that wasn't bad enough, we have had three managers and two caretaker managers in less than 2 seasons. We are about to employ our 4th.
If you set out to purposefully destroy a promoted team, you couldn't have done a better job of it.

Absolutely this. 18 months later we are still picking the relegated York centre midfield duo. If you put aside every other contentious issue, this would still be a significant aspect of our current plight. Going on with this arrangement is just insane. What do the board and management expect will happen?

It might as well have been Slade talking, we must work harder, what the intercourse have they been doing for the past 12 games then.
Same shower of excrement today.
Time to flipping man up and say it how it is and make some changes and leave the crap out, Dixon, Osbourne, Berrett, Matt, Hooper, I wasn't that impressed by Hall-Johnson either.
Time to play the young loanees even if we lose I would much rather watch them play.

If Clifton can't do a better job than Berrett, we may as well terminate his contract tomorrow, as he's no future in the game. I haven't seen him make one incisive pass all season, and if he ever scored, i think i would faint on the spot.

I wanted to believe in Wilko like I believed in him as a player he always gave 100% for the shirt. As soon as I saw his team selection my heart sank the usual wasters in the matchday squad Clifton and the Villa kid should have been a brave new dawn. The 90 mins against Cambridge should be his last involvement from the dugout the bravery he showed as a player clearly hasn`t moved across into coaching/management.The interview full of buzzwords and BS about hard work. You don`t need to work harder Paul you need to do the right work and that means leaving out the matchday squad the likes of Vernon,Kelly,Dixon and Hooper who are 4 of the worst players most of us have ever seen. You let us down Paul and worse still you let yourself down had you got a result yesterday with kids BP would have had 5k on Saturday all backing you to the hilt.No backbone,no desire, no hope and little effort

For all Bignot's faults, he worked this one out pretty much straight away. I've no idea what McAllister looks like or how he plays or even if he's actually a real person, but he can't be any shitter than Berrett. Incredibly, he'll probably end his 2 years at GTFC with as many permanent managers as league appearances.

Wilco did hint he would like some help he will always be a No2 in management, don't think he has a hair drier treatment in his locker but even with that, you need respect.
Leadership amongst men is a standout attribution you have leaders and followers.
Slade did have charisma and could talk as well as any car salesman but failed to motivate his team albeit he must have smashed a few mirrors luck wise.
Wilko is a follower interestingly he mentioned some relation to Burnsy who helped him set up the team yesterday?? Or did I imagine it as I fell asleep lol.

Regarding the comments about Clifton needing to start ahead of, say, Berrett, has there been any indication that Clifton is actually a better player? We'd all like him to come through into the team and do well, but there must be some reason why he's barely made a first team appearance yet under a few different managers.

Yes, my heart sank too as soon as I saw the line up. My attempt to get something out of the day by testing some new walking boots around sunny Cambridge's punts and spires fell flat. Several elements of the Barnet away day held promise. Large following, Big Chris in jocular form, Lloyd in the snack bar queue.............. Gut wrenching, soul destroying, self destruction on and off the pitch.

And on loan to a rival team no less! Genius. Where, incidentally, he has already scored more goals from midfield in a few weeks that Berrett and Summerfield combined in the full season so far.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that people seem to have almost been deliberately trying to dismantle the club.

I think we are all basing our opinion on the fact that Clifton may actually move around the field and like other have said if he cannot bring more to the team than Berrett provides why is he still with us? Given McAllister appears to have disappeared off the scene to leave the club with the central midfield options of Rose, Berrett and Summerfield is just criminal and a major factor in why we are so crap.

The point about Clifton and McAlister is that they are not Berrett and to a degree Rose or Summerfield. Fankly those three in various combinations have proved consistently that they cannot contribute in any sustained fashion over the current season, and for Berrett and Summerfield that extends to the previous 2 seasons. Looking back even further for Berrett he's now been relegated or in relegation battles for 4 of the last 5 seasons. Startling.
They've had ample chance and it hasn't worked. The question is, is it better to keep persisting with something that has prved not to work over a long period of time, or do you try something different.

Wilko is not the man to lead us to sunny horizons, he has the taint of Slade transplanted in his generic make up, to the extent that he sort of sorry that his mentor has left the building.
He answers all the questions truthfully but they are not the answers that we want to hear from someone who has the balls to empty the swamp and rethink and use what little useful players that has been spared by Slade.
We need an energetic experienced manager to help us claw our way out of this whirlpool of losses, not inexperience or bullshitters, there is someone out there who won`t come cheap but whoever it is has to have the authority to sell his ideas to lost souls

FGR Wilko messed up badly, seems to have been no real thought or even imagination gone into yesterdays setup. I too was hopeful of a new-ish dawn under Wilko but his midweek interview, lavishing praise on the bald wrecking ball made me feel rather uneasy. Praising Slade is just ridiculous, it feels once again to be more in tune with echoing the useless board; just contradict the view of the fans, do the opposite of what they demand no matter the outcome. I'm afraid that if you were 'devastated' that he was sacked/stopped from continuing his wrecking of this club then I don't see how you're in any position to undo his damage.

Jeez that was as bad as listening to slade. Id love to know how the players are going to become positive, listening to that depressing monotone. Loved the 'were in a bit of a dip' . a bit?? When does a bit of a dip become a real dip? 15, 20,26 games? Need a new man in sharpish .rather hanging my hopes on rossler or gray from York

3 promotions in 4 years at darlo, the other season they were runners up but lost in the play offs. As you know York are in dire straits off the park but he has them in the play off places in a v competitive division

Any manager would have got us promoted with the budget he had. Grateful for what he did, but the man is a helmet of the highest order.
He’s only good when he has money. Soon as it drys up, he gets found out.
Has no plan B. Loves a long ball. Loves signing unnecessary strikers.

Losing 4-1 at Curzon Ashton whilst losing £900k a year must surely make him a favourite

God no that can't be true! That one closed because Wilkie is staying, and another with John Askey odds on favourite?! We are going to hell in a hand cart.

If that is true then it wouldn't surprise me at all - for all the wrong reasons. What manager is going to put his head on the block for a 12 game run in when we are an absolute shambles from top to bottom, and we can't score a bloody goal? No investment, nor any forthcoming, a non chairman who must have a terrible reputation in the game who has publicly said he wants out; a club without the modern facilities players demand and fans who are turning on the board and team in equal measure. Who would be stupid enough to risk their reputation under those circumstances? Step forward...?

Jeez that was as bad as listening to slade. Id love to know how the players are going to become positive, listening to that depressing monotone. Loved the 'were in a bit of a dip' . a bit?? When does a bit of a dip become a real dip? 15, 20,26 games? Need a new man in sharpish .rather hanging my hopes on rossler or gray from York
its a bit of a dip when measured on the "Woods Scale" ...our own regional measure of performance
