Just on our way to Cambridge and got into a discussion about favourite away games. I'll start off with Wimbledon in 6th round of the FA cup, the birth of Harry Haddock

Apt for today, but Everton away in The League Cup in '84 and that Paul Wilkinson goal.

We were absolutely battered that night. Still the most one sided game I've been to where the team on top lost.

Yeah, one of my favourites too. IIRC it was an 8pm kick off and we got there expecting there to be two or three hundred Town there but we filled that away end. Must have been about 1500 there that night with a variety of different inflatables.

They'd equalised with less than 10 minutes left and our players were on their knees with the effort they'd given and had it gone to extra time, they were going to be the only winners. Then Jobling latched onto that dodgy backpass, took it round the keeper and all the Town fans were celebrating the goal before he's even kicked it. I can vividly remember Shaun Cunnington up on the fencing in front of the away end celebrating.

Cracking game.

Really enjoyed Stockport away in 2008 in the JPT despite the awful conditions we were subject to first half before being let in to the side stand which had a roof. Conrad Logan had a stinker and Elding missed an open goal.

Also really enjoyed Eastleigh away in the play off semi final.

That's the one game I missed where I'd really have loved to have been there. Was all set to go the day before but was really ill on the day and didn't make it.

Yeah I think I'd go with that. Thought we'd blown it after the first leg and we only made a late decision to go. Amazing atmosphere and to seal it with a goal like that volley of Donovan's was amazing. Then the celebrations afterwards with the players and knowing we were finally going to Wembley. Can't believe it's 20 years ago!

Burnley away for me too. Skipped school to go on Bernard's bus and was right behind Donovan's volley. Hard to believe now that we'd gone so long without ever playing at Wembley. The celebrations afterwards with the players on the pitch were brilliant.

I remember at the end the police kept us back in the ground until they'd cleared the Boro fans away. They'd been pelting us with coins whilst we were waiting to get out of the ground.

When we finally got back to the car we got a bit lost but noticed a car with a Grimsby number plate in front so decided to follow them. Unfortunately he too was lost and ended up turning down a dead end street lined with terraced houses each side and several shady looking characters on the street. I don't think I've ever done a U-turn quicker in my life.

Newcastle away Jim dobbin goal will always remember that, I saw him a couple of years ago in Scunthorpe he was exchanging gas meters, I couldn't help but mention his goal and we had a good chat about it, top bloke.

Got a good few really (I'm getting on. Bit now) but coventry away in the fa cup was in the category of both best and worst. 3 divisions difference but we played amazingly well (seem to remember dave wothington's performance against tommy hutchinson in particular) gutted to lose at the death of course but what dtands out for me was the exodus from town. Every bus and coach from miles away was hired. I went on a grimsby/cleethorpes teansport-as it was then- single decker. Walked miles to and from the ground past this mass of buses.
Got plenty of others tho Wembley '98 v bournemouth. Looking up at the twin towers from the car park.....blimey, i couldn't speak til half time so that one for the emotion
Oh, and wimbledon away, won 6-1 or two, 5-0 nil ip st half time and the best football meat pie in my memory bank....oh stop now!!!!!
