Thinking of doing a cruise for my holiday next year and wondered if anyone has been on any decent ones.

I'm not over fussed about going somewhere warm really, I'd prefer the Norwegian Fjords/Northern Lights or something similar.

Could only really be a 2 week one due to getting time off work so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions/recommendations?

Been on a cruise from Southampton to the Norwegian Fjords and it was great. If you enjoy that sort of scenery then you'll love it and you see some nice little towns as well.

Looking forward to a brighter future now Fenty has gone.

In that case Les I would advise you to go on a 2 week Norwegian ,/ Fjords one mate.

It's something we have been looking into as well Les. We like the look of the small ship cruises, as they are not just floating towns, with masses of people aboard. They can also get further into the fjords than the bigger ships.

My sister did that the other year Ginny. The boat was the regular mailboat/ferry that shuttled up and down the coast in and out of the fjords. Food was excellent. Scenery superb as you'd expect.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing we have in mind. We love hopping around the Scottish Highlands on the ferries, so i'm sure we'd love that type of thing.

Went on one to Norway last year Les with Fred Olsens. Brilliant.

Nine days, sailed from Dover in May and looked after like royalty.
Called at Stavenger before seeing the fjords at their brilliant best.

Usually sort out holidays on internet but although now living in E.
Yorks I came over to Gy and got Hopps Travel to sort out a
great deal

Tell me to keep my nose out if you want Les, but would you be travelling solo?

The reason I ask is that I'm in the middle of a divorce and my daughter is pushing me to get away on a holiday somewhere to get me out of the doldrums

She went on a Caribbean cruise last year with her boyfriend and had a great time and has already booked one for next year and has told me that a cruise would probably suit me

As I've just "celebrated" 25 years of marriage, going on a holiday just by myself is a bit daunting to be honest, but a cruise might just be the answer, seeing different places and meeting other folk too

I'm not fussed about the far flung destinations but maybe one around the Med or one up around the Baltic might suit me....

I have a feeling though that they hit you with extra costs / surcharges, hence my initial question. Or are the lines now tapping in to the singles market rather than just couples?

If anyone has done a cruise by themselves I'd be interested to know... I don't mind mixing with people but also would want to avoid getting stuck on a singles table next to someone you can't get on with

Don't ask for much do I?
