10 years ago today

Sorry for the narcissist post but just thought I'd mention it on here.

Today is my 10-year craniaversary. 10 years since the main operation that removed my brain tumour. Although it took them another 6 operations over the next 3 and a half years to finally get me sorted out, it was 10 years ago today that I had the main op to get the tumour out.

A lot has happened in that 10 years, not least with GTFC. Sometimes it seems only like yesterday, other times is seems a lifetime ago.

Anyway I'm still here and hoping to hang around for quite some time yet. Whether I'll ever see GTFC restored to our former glories though, I very much doubt.

Well done Les, I am really pleased for you and really appreciate the effort and contribution you make to this site, supporting the Mariners and the great work you do in raising money.

Also would like to salute the NHS , perhaps the country's greatest achievement.  While also pointing out many of those who took part in your diagnosis, operations and aftercare are earning a lot less in real terms than in 2008.  We should really treasure the NHS and look to fund it properly.

Here's hoping you have many more than another 10 years of good health to look forward to whatever the state of the Mariners

Totally agree. The NHS saved my life for which I will be forever grateful, but at the minute the NHS is a mess.

My 87-year old Mum has just had her operation cancelled for the third time, having gone through a pre-op appointment each time only to be rung up just before being due to be admitted to say they were having to cancel it. I know many people who are in the same boat but why on earth keep giving out admittance dates when they know almost certainly they'll have to cancel.

I haven't done anything for a couple of years though so will probably be doing something or other again later this year.

It's the government to blame Les I was told I had to lose 2 stone before they would operate so I did that,

They then told me it would be 18 weeks wait

So I did wait ,  it went on longer but got my pre admission done went to a class on what to do and what not to do after I got my new knee,

Then the goverment said all non urgent op's would be cancelled until Fenruary,

So I am still waiting and we are halfway through Feb,

Anyway back to you, well done mate you do a brilliant job with the prediction league,

Not in the slightest bit narcissistic Les.... after the journey you've been on and come through, I think you have every reason to share your experience

I still remember how I first came across you and your story.... had read bits and pieces on here of course, but my mum saying about the nice man Leslie from across the road who had been ill, was a Town fan and how she'd sponsored you

Putting two and two together, it was an honour to meet you in person rather than just read of your exploits on here, but don't even think that we're not interested

As you say, things over 10 years can and do change.... hopefully we'll all be around in another 10 years when the phoenix has risen from the ashes and our team is doing us proud
