As one of the panellists to help the board pick a new manager. It’s clear that the board hasn’t got the best track record at picking managers and aren’t football people - definitely no more so than anyone on here.

I think to help filter out the bullshitters (eg Bignot in that he managed to fool the board with his bs) someone like Buckley will help us with that. Having watched us most weeks I think he’ll have a clear idea of the type of character we need.

And also, why not utilise his experience of 1000+ games as a manager to help out Wilko in the short term?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I've said this on another thread and feel this is the way to go.

We're not asking him to manage the club but to help with appointing a new manager as a specialist consultant who know the club inside out and more importantly, the fans.

Maybe this could be something the trust could push.

Something different needs to happen in the GTFC recruitment process and feel someone like Buckley could be the key to the process.

I’ve said this for the last two appointments makes real sense, and further to that co op him onto the board for his football knowledge after all Marley is co opted for his accountancy skill the other one (name escapes me ) for his legal skills and chapman for his horse racing tips so why not have a football brain

It’s a good idea and ask other former Town players to consult too. Wayne Burnett currently coaching at Spurs, Groves at Birmingham Craig Shakespeare etc.

Surely Buckley is just as knowledgeable as Lenny Lawrence ? A role within club at least part time should be considered  all that experience not being used seems crazy to me

Some people must really dislike Buckley judging by the red crosses? As others say you have a guy with 1k games under his belt who knows the Club and area he should absolutely be involved in the interview process. We want a yountg ambitious Manager who sees Town as a stepping stone to bigger things further down the line.GTFC is a good job for the right bloke put a side together that can win games regular and you will get 4-5k home fans a lot of Clubs in the bottom two divisions would love that potential.

This must rank as one of the most ridiculous suggestions ever.

When are people going to stop living in the past? Why not bring back Lawrie Mac or John Newman?
