Grimsby 3 Hartlepool 0 in 1977. Joe Waters hat trick. My dad is from Hartlepool and we left before the end he was so disgusted

I remember nothing of the game but I did learn a few new swear words.

21st. April 1951.

Home to West Ham.
We lost 1-0 and finished bottom of Division 2 ( The Championship as it now is).
There were only about a dozen of us in the boy's pen, paying 3d.
But the attendance was over 10,000.

Probably in need of a hot meal and bath by now. Was it you who started the fire underneath to keep warm?

Very funny Ginny

I did think there was something not quite right about my sentence ( and no I don't mean having to endure Town all these years!!) and you saw through it

As for a bath, guess it has to beat the shower we usually have on display

Norwich 4-0 Grimsby, 2002. Was 5 and apparently cried when the 4th goal went in. Doubt we'll be playing at Carrow Road again anytime soon!

The one thing I’m getting  here is how old some of you (we) are , I didn’t imagine some of the more ‘controversial’ posters to be going to their first games in the 50’s and 60’s . I just mentally pictured you as younger !

There are a few grumpy old men on here.

Maybe because we have seen so much better than the last few years.

2-1 defeat to Ipswich in 1991 for me. Diddy scored for us. Nice to see the broad age range of posters on here. Worth noting for those who suggest criticism of the club only comes from a certain demographic.

I (vaguely ) remember sitting in the Osmond Stand with my mum
watching Town play Notts County. I don't remember much much
about the match but it would be round about the date WW2 ended..

I started going regularly during our last season in Division One
and clearly recall the first match when we beat Aston Villa 3 - 0.
I was in the boys' paddock for that game, but watched the rest of the
of the season from the Constitutional Corner.

We had to go over an hour before kick-offs so I could get up against
the fence near the corner flag..

That win over was one of very few that season

Interesting that both you and GTFC97's first games were away (in East Anglia, coincidentally, unless you're related!). Are you second generation exiles?

Remember both of the games mentioned. As well as better results at those grounds.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Bet that seems really lucky in retrospect!

Town 4, Stockport 1 , September 1971. I was 12 ( late bloomer ).We won the next three games I want to as well, so I knew it would be like that forever! Turned out not to be the case.
