The first time I ever recall being take to a game at BP was I believe February 64 stood with my dad in the Imperial Corner

I can't say which game it was with 100% certainty but I think it was a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield

The very first game I ever went to on my own was Easter Saturday, April 1965

A 1-0 home defeat to Workington.... went in the Pontoon because it seemed such an attraction for a young boy and I'm still there in the Pontoon 50 odd years later

Probably in need of a hot meal and bath by now. Was it you who started the fire underneath to keep warm?

When was it we use to have the old metal tunnel? I can't remember the game but I have an old memory of watching the team run out of that. The next time I went, a few years later, it had been replaced by the more modern style one.

The one thing I’m getting  here is how old some of you (we) are , I didn’t imagine some of the more ‘controversial’ posters to be going to their first games in the 50’s and 60’s . I just mentally pictured you as younger !

Probably because we've watched enough crap for a lifetime and hoped we wouldn't have to watch too much more.

Because we are better at remembering games from 50/60 years ago than we are at remembering what happened last Saturday.

Did someone say there was a protest or something at BP? I agree with them. It's time Would and his mates cleared off and took Allenby Chilton with 'em.

May not have been the first but I remember Dad and Uncle from Immingham taking brother and I to watch Town play Stoke at Blundell Park in 1962. Town defence ensured that Sir Stanley Matthews was able to keep his kit clean. We would be twelve. I think Violet scored their goal in a 1-1 draw. Same Uncle was on the commitee which ran Immingham Town I believe.

Too busy playing for School and Youth Club to get to many games and Dad worked Saturdays.
Moved to Habrough close to the Station but failed to take advantage of the fact. Looking back, my knees tell me we should have worked less and had more fun!
Meeting my wife at 16 didn't help either

We moved away from Grimsby in 1954 when I was seven. I went with my Dad to several games before we left, I don't specifically remember any league games, but do remember some evening games Town versus "Old England" and similar. Presumably in those pre-minimum-wage days even old international players had to augment their incomes by playing in those games, they must be turning in their graves now.
One game I do remember was, ironically, one I wasn't at. I remember being very upset that a friend's birthday party at the Winter Gardens took precedence over Town's cup tie against Fulham, the more so when Dad, who did go, told me that it ended 5-5, with Fulham equalising late on thanks to an uncharacteristic error by the normally dependable Clarrie Williams.
Having been at Yeovil last week, no wonder we oldies hanker for the "good old days"!
