Get him in before Saturday with Dave Moore short term one knows the players one knows how to win football matches. We all know he isn`t the answer long term but with 15 games to go he will win at least 5 and keep us up.More importantly let the two of them oversee the Managerial recruitment process for the next GTFC Manager come May on behalf of the football club and maybe just maybe we can get ourselves back on track.Slade has set us back years and sadly an awful lot of people predicted it would come to this.We must preserve our league status and there are no better candidates available than these two blokes they have the experience and the passion to get us the 15 points we need.

Great call simple decision if we really want to preserve our league status, not only will they give the club some stability it will also give the board time needed to make the right choice to bring in the right manager to take us forward.

IF, Buckley (or any new manager) gets appointed today, they then have to be backed to get some quality through the door and get rid of the 5hite that's been left over from the past 2 incumbents.

And, I would like to think that Fenty would try to get some love and support back in the club by getting bums on seats for saturdays game. Reduce all tickets to £10 (£1 kid with an adult) and take an extra 10p on a pie or a pint. Get the warmth back around the club John and feel the pride and passion that the supporters have.

I think that would be a good option; I hate to advocate that anyone should lose their job, but we cannot carry on like this. Not only the abysmal performances, week after week, but a total inability to score and now we have our own players fighting with one another. AB  would probably not want the job on a long-term basis, and he probably wouldn't be the best option anyway, but he and Dave Moore will settle the ship, restore discipline and confidence, and hopefully keep us up. Having said that, I'm not sure where goals will come from, In the intervening time, the board will have time to consider options more carefully rather than taking knee-jerk decisions. We are at a critical time in the history of the club; if we do go down, we all know how difficult it is to get out of that accursed league. We could end up like Torquay or Stockport.

Buckley and Mooro until the end of the season? Then a new manager in the summer. Sounds sensible.

I'm certain that AB has no interest in full time management these days however some advisory role alongside Dave Moore makes some sense. The goals may be there, in Wilks and Vernam, who can say that Cardwell couldn't find his groove under Buckley.
It's not too dissimilar a situation to when AB took over from Bobby Roberts, with some half decent and unfinished players just waiting to be shown the ropes.  Marc North was a goalie turned striker but looked below average until Buckley came in, partnered him with Big Keith, added a bit of fire and close skills with Rees and look what happened.
We have the players here to replicate that I reckon, one thing for sure it's a massively better idea than the current one, just throwing young lads like Clifton and Wilks onto games where the whole team has disintegrated both tactically and in spirit like last night at Yeovil.

Would AB really want to come in to the current situation? What if he fails and we end up going down? Surely he wouldn’t risk that!

There has to be more to the current form than poor management.

I'm not so sure that a manager that hasn't managed a profesional team for 10 years or managed any other club for 15 years.

In terms of short-term impact he didn't do too well either. He lost 8 of the first ten games at the start of his last stint.

Slade is the problem but not convinced Buckley is the answer. A lot has changed in 10 years, being an expert summariser for radio humberside does not make you a good coach. Gary Neville was a higher-profile example.

Not sure Buckley would even want it. I love Alan and I think if he was involved in some capacity it would certainly boost the morale. I am not sure him being in charge would be the best move for the rest of the season.

I don't think Slade will get the chop today. I think he will have Saturday to save himself.

I know Alan he was a customer in a shop i had and I have the greatest liking and respect for him both as a person and a manager. I also love to hear on the radio how we should have done it, when we have just missed a chance etc and I am sure he is usually correct.                                                                                                                                                 However I was at a game near to the end of his last tenure, when I think we lost 2-1 at home to Accrington.I was in Mcmenemys and the feeling wasn't far off being like it is now and a!most everybody was saying Alan should go. Mr Fenty came to our table and heard peoples opinions and although I didn't comment, I felt Alan had been out of the game for quite a while and had lost his contacts at other clubs, that he would have used to obtain players Fenty said that Alan was such a legend and it was a terrible quandary and I replied, "rather you than me'.

Not a bad shout til end of season , he has seen the games as a co commentator and always seems to know our weaknesses on the radio .

Knows our fans and what we like but I couldn't see It happening as why would he want to come back with added stress.

A new permanent manager in now isn’t the right time. The transfer window is closing tonight and any manager would need a period of getting to know the players and quite frankly we can’t afford that given our predicament. Mooro and even Buckley know the players and I can’t think of any better appointment on a temporary basis whilst we take our time and find the right manager. There will be a better choice of permanent manager at the end of the season rather than the rejects floating around mid season. This next appointment has to be right.

After the nightmare last night I was just thinking of the nightmare scenario today.....
JF decides to stick with Slade AND sell Jones/Dembele to the highest bidders as they are our only saleable assets. What that potentially means is that he's accepted our fate and is trying to get as much of his money out before we go down the plug hole. I don't blame him for wanting his money back by the way, but would prefer us to have a big successful run and hand him an embroidered cheque with compound interest for his trouble.
It might be a long day and at the end of it the future might look very bleak.
On the other hand, RS goes, Dave Moore agrees to steady the ship on the understanding we keep the two players, he motivates them and we finish just short of the play offs.

Let's not put all the emphasis on Sir Alan because Dave Moore has proved time and again he's more than capable of bringing the best out of average players, these two together with equal input would certainly be the best short term option by a country mile.
In that time would could line up a top up and coming non league manager who may be currently under contract, or even a top premiership player coming towards the end of their career someone with the leadership qualities required for a player manager like with did with Laws, the are numerous options if we just stable the ship, but the worst one by far  (other than keeping Salde) would be to bring in another out of work failed manager.

The problem in the event you sack Slade is who you bring in? Buckley and Moore have enough experience of football to save us (you could argue so does Slade) and they would get enough backing from the fans to build up some positivity short term.Buckley/Moore is not the answer long term but it will buy the Club valuable time to get to May when they can get on with picking the long term solution. In my opinion Slade is not the answer short or long term and never was.

No to Buckley, I wouldn't want his legend status tarnished if we were to slide down with him in charge. He has been out of the game too long now I am afraid. Dave Moore as temp manager to steady the ship (I hope) and get enough points on the board to keep our heads above water. I would settle for about where we r now league position wise, but we MUST arrest this slide! We are sleepwalking to relegation with slade in charge. I thought we could see out the season with him in charge and then replace him but he must go now as the disaster of relegation is so clearly looming. It doesn't matter what it costs - relegation will cost more. I fear they will give him cheltenham and then sack him when we lose that.

I'm not advocating that we should look to AB in fact I would go so far to say that if a chairman had sacked me then came crawling back I would tell him to intercourse right off.

However regarding your comment of the lack of being involved with professional football for the past 10 years, we have got someone who has, he also has the experience of managing several teams and he is doing a right crap job of it.

If Slade goes, and i don't think he will today, why can we never look beyond people already associated with the club? It's this sort of parochial thinking right throughout the club that has got us into this mess yet again.

No no no this is not a long term solution but neither is panicking and getting a dead horse from somewhere with no love or affiliation to the Club.We know Buckley and Moore will do everything they can to keep up others won`t give a fig remember Nicky Law.We must stya up and we must get the right bloke in May you won`t get him now whoever he is.

Having an affiliation to the club guarantees nothing. Do you remember Buckley's last stint at the club? He was still in the loop then as well. When Port Vale were bottom of the league, they brought in Aspin from non league, during the season. Some on here were saying it was a sh1t appointment and he was a hoof ball merchant. They are now 2 points behind us with a game in hand.

Why do people have such faith that Dave Moore would be the right man to steer us safe of relegation?

Surely he's more out of touch with football management than Buckley as (aside from a couple of caretaker spells were he's just picked up average results) he's been out of management longer than Sir Alan.

The thing that is so obviously missing is a bit of Man management skill. Hurst sort of had it despite some notable exceptions, but Slade has less respect than a bottle of truckers urine tossed to the side of the road.
A Moore/Buckley interim solution would have that, players would not be allowed to shirk and would certainly not be scared of the ball like they are now.
Long term, obviously not, but to avoid relegation with the players currently available to them, it’s the best hope we’ve got.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

No. Whenever we are in the sh1t this solution gets dragged out. He has not been in management for years, was sacked twice himself and does not want to do it. He would be on a hiding to nothing, why would he want to put himself through it. Not the answer

Well who do you advocate then? I would suggest forgetting who Buckley actually is to do the job I am on about ie avoiding relegation and Managing us for 15 games a Manager with 1k games experience who lives on our doorstep with another bloke who has been in the game the same amount of time are our best hope short term.Long term like you I would want a Aspin,Bignot/Hurst type recruiting but we need someone in for Saturday other than Slade and ideally someone other than Fenty making the long term appointment.

Buckley is finished  and shouldn't be allowed near the team again and Moore is not the brightest. Bring back Bignot

Think it's a moot point because Slade will be staying IMO. I'd like to see us get the type of manager you list, but i don't think it will happen just yet, if at all.

I would let the older pros in the club take the seat until the end of the season, collins or davies, both upto date with modern football and training techniques plus they already know the players and most likely where and how to play them.

On a similar note I saw that the AFC Wimledon manager asked his squad how they thought they should play to beat Bradford City. An open discussion on the team end the tactics....they won 4-0.  Maybe not ideal on a regular basis  but certainly if it meant 3 points on Saturday it wiuld be worth while

Anyone but Slade, I don't care who takes charge.

Totally agree, the change alone would lift spirits throughout the club and may "buy" one or two wins

Dave Moore to the end of the season, he's done it before, knows the players, can work with JF etc.

It's a no brainer for me, so I can only believe the RS pay off cost is the problem
If so that's a very short-sighted view, as it's (maybe?) £150 - £200k v possibly somewhere we cant claw our way back from ever again

Absolutely "no" to going back to Buckley. Even suggesting this shows how desperate we have become.

The club has a manager, like it or not,  he is the manager until JF pretty much decides otherwise and given the prevous statements from the "board" that would appear to encompass starting next season as well.
I am sure that numerous press releases have already been prepared to cover every outcome of this season, most of which will entirely blame Marcus Bignot for last January's spending and non balancing of the squad.

If people just accept they really wont be able to influence JF's mindset on this one and concentrate on supporting whatever 11 is selected on Saturday then maybe we can help the team win.

Surely the Slade book of quotable excuses has been finally exhausted by now !

We may be the most dominant relegated team in this division by May if nothing happens soon !

Even Hurst listened to suggestions for formation changes to fall over the promotion line - at the moment it's 5 0 5 with snow on the ball and lower crowds by the week.

Us'll be laughing  !!

We would not be having this conversation if Slade had got a 6 month rolling contract,

It is the future  our non chairman said.

Doubt if Dave Moore would want the job if offered, read the same for King Alan, I recon he will get Saturday to save his job in which time a win would give him a life line for another week or so.

It reminds me of when a shoplifter goes before the magistrate" That's 148 times you have been before me, the next time you will go to prison "                  "That's 149 times you have been before me,the next time you will go to prison"             "That's 150 times...................

Jesus Christ. Reading this thread would give a politician all the ammunition he would need  for compulsory euthanisia at 60.

Buckley is finished  and shouldn't be allowed near the team again and Moore is not the brightest. Bring back Bignot

I'm don't think it is anyone 60 or over that needs compulsory euthanasia.
