Sick of the lack of shots and goals of late...decided to look up some stats online for this season.

Not double checked but assuming the site I found is accurate...it did include wilks appearance today so seems good.

These players have yet to score this season for gtfc in the league.
Summerfield  30 games nearly today...nearly
Dixon  20 games
Berrett 21 games
Mills 19 games
Dj 22 games tho many as sub
Clements Clifton Asante   0 games
Nathan clarke has 1 in 30.

If half your line up NEVER scores......

Well, full-backs rarely score goals because they rarely get in the box. The clue's in the name of their position.

Jaiyesimi is a very inexperienced player so not too surprising he hasn't scored many. Most central defenders don't score many. It's the midfielders and strikers especially who are the problem.

Unfortunately, Slade bizarrely left on 5 defenders for most of the game even though we were losing and they had 1 man up front. I'd imagine the possession stats look better than the reality of the game due to the number of slow, laboured passes across the back line from our defenders. Must have spent 75 percent of the second half in our own half doing absolutely nothing with the ball.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but below are our 9, yes 9 strikers on our books

Vernam
Matt
Wilks
Jones
Vernon
Hooper - surely terminated or loaned out before Weds?
Cardwell - surely terminated or loaned out before Weds?
Asante - will never EVER get a look in under Slade so like the above 2 will more than likely be gone by Wednesday
Rose - appreciate there's work permit issues but I read on another thread that he's too old to be playing for the U18s now (?) can someone confirm? So surely he's just in limbo here?

As a few have mentioned have already, worrying similarities to the 42/44 (can't remember how many) players we gave a go in the 2009/10 season.

Edited 😆

You miss my point a bit... players aren't scoring goals throughout the team, we are simply not a threat. It's insane that neither summerfield nor berrett has scored yet.

I agree about the 5 defenders point.

Heres a few stats I've managed to find:-

Yeovil Town conceded at least one goal in 71% of their home matches. 68% of Yeovil Town's points have been earned at home. Yeovil Town conceded at least one goal in each of their last 6 home matches.

Cheltenham conceded at least one goal in each of their last 7 matches. Cheltenham have scored in 80% of their away matches. Cheltenham have scored in each of their last 11 away matches.

Grimsby have failed to win in their last 9 matches. Grimsby conceded at least one goal in each of their last 8 matches.

Grimsby Stats overall:-

Attack (23rd- only Cambridge are worse)
Defence (16th)
Failed to score at home- 50%-(24th)
Average time it takes to score a goal - 49 mins (24th)
Form table-last 8 matches (24th)

Not good reading at the minute.
