I don't want us to lose any games but I do see where you are coming from, I just can't accept defeat like FENTY and Sladeball so easily.

It will just about sum up the clueless approach of the club if Slade is sacked next week. Someone else could have been given the transfer window, instead, it's been handed to someone utterly incapable of identifying anyone half decent and persuading them to come and join his motley collection of ageing journeymen in a quest for midtable dominance (entertainment optional).

The problem is we draw and he keeps his job,

Don't want us to lose - but to lose our manager sometime next week at the end of a transfer window would just show how inept our board are.

He’s hardly gone a bignotesque jan signing spree has he ? A shite keeper and a couple of young lads with pretty much no first team experience. Says everything about the boards confidence in the management team and their ability to attract players . All this after the attempt at positive PR with the all too obvious bul.lshi.t statement of intent .
Let’s fooking hope the squad has the boll.ocks to get a few results , starting on Tuesday down at Yeovil, to get us out this scary situation we are now well and truly in .
Then hopefully we can fook slap head out of it just like he did us before the Cheltenham game in Cardiff in 2006 .

The team is actually playing some decent football over recent games.  They just cannot buy a goal from anywhere and it isn’t from lack of effort.

If this was any other manager then people would be spending a lot more time bemoaning poor refereeing and bad luck hitting the woodwork instead of harping on about ancient history. He is not my ideal manager by any means but If we have problems they are not of Slade’s making, he is just trying to firefight. Have a go at the purse holder by all means but we are desperate to stay in the league. Sacking the manager like the OP wants is just ridiculous.  The people who are out there on the training ground and on the BP grass for the games need support from the supporters, the clue is in the name.

I get your point, but when would have been the correct time to sack him? We'd won 3 in a row just before Christmas and were almost in the playoffs. We then had a horrible run of games in late December that we didn't expect to get many points from. Sacking Slade before the window wasn't really justifiable based on the results that we'd had.

Ref the OP: I want us to win on Tuesday. I want us to be successful and play some attacking football and score some goals, even if we do have mixed results. I have no grudge with Slade and was quite positive about his return, but the way things have panned out - the terrible lack of quality and the dismal, unimaginative tactics have killed any enthusiasm I had. I can't bring myself to wish for teams to beat us to get a manager sacked. I can't say I understand that notion at all.

Problems not of the managers making are you having a laugh he's signed 22 players and can't make a decent fist of it. It's frankly ridiculous he hands out contracts like their confete.

Or just maybe the transfer window was handed to someone who promised not to spend in return for keeping his job ??

The board get to make a positive statement. The manager knows his job is safe. At the end of the window the usual bullsh1t is trotted out. ‘Ridiculous fees’ players turned us down last minute etc etc etc.

Once again the only losers are us, the long suffering fans.

It is Sladeballs fault he resigned a lot of the players who most thought weren't good enough and then he adds to the poor side with players on 2 year contracts who don't even make the bench. This side reflects him and it isn't good enough to even break down a 10 man side for over an hour. Set plays are a joke, no guile or intelligence, very few players take their man on and a lot of passing is crab, sideways. We rarely clear the ball to one of our players and often a pass is hit too hard to the receiving player to control it or do a controlled knock on. I think Wilkinson is as much to blame for all his experience he seems a bit like a nobody a non entity WTF does he do?

I don't want Russ to be sacked, I want him to succeed. But I can't abide his football, and I don't see him changing his philosophy. Results speak for themselves, the squad isn't good enough. He has to go, but the transfer window is about to close. It's a mess alright, all of our own doing again.

One things for sure, if we were to retain Russ I definitely would not renew my season ticket.

Russ isn't the biggest issue at the club, it's time for new ownership, a fresh start and new leadership from the boardroom is vital. Thank for your efforts John Fenty but please go, and go soon.

This, in spades. We are 15 years into the biggest rut in the club's history. It's like going down one of those roads where the potholes get bigger & the road gets narrower.

I cannot really agree with the decent football comment, we have been cack against, Accrington, Crewe, Morecambe, and Newport, we weren't that good in our win against FGR.

As regards the problems not being Slade's making, who has signed most of this squad and countless strikers one not even making the match day squad being kept out by juniors?

One thing is certain, despite how I feel about Slade or Fenty I WILL NOT BOYCOTT MY CLUB no matter how much pleading it is a stupid idea that benefits no one.

How will those players feel?

I defy anyone that says they are not putting the effort in, the club is struggling on and off the field you either give up or fight.

How long do you kick a dog when it is down before it ceases to exist and dies.

Hopping a team beats us is PATHETIC.

How will the players feel?  Poor little overpaid snowflakes should put some effort in.   Blind devotion is not good for either side, sometimes you have to make a stand.   I bet you are one of the happy clapper five? LOL

So you think the players don't put any effort in do you even go? It is not for the lack of effort Matt ran his socks off so did Vernam.Summerfield etc in fact it was hard to find any town player who did not give it a go and put a shift in.

The fact they did not test the keeper was down to either tactics or bad decisions the best chance probably went to Mallik who with a bit more confidence in a great position would have got a shot off rather than pass it.

To me the defence and midfield look sound it's final third where we are badly lacking get that right and we will start to make progress.

I put as much effort in attending as the player do playing , which means occasionally.  I boo the player off when I have spent a large portion of my disposable income watching absolute shite. I do applaud valiant failure but that hasn't happened for years.  That does not make me any lessor of a fan, probably more of one because I want far more for my club than you are happy to accept.

I have no complaints whatsoever with the effort of the players.
I do have an issue with the lack of 'bravery' in the way the team is set up. It is far too cautious.
Not suggesting we go all out attack with 5 up front but against 10 men on Saturday we should not have persisted with a slow full back in the wing back role. It was crying out for DJ,Dembele or even Mallik from half time at the latest!! Slade just doesnt react fast enough to the game situation, not just on Saturday but in general.

I honestly think we have the players to comfortably finish in the top half but not convinced we are brave enough to go and win games. The regular comment about staying in the game is cautious rather than hitting the oppo from the opening minute. Staying in the game smacks of negativity and hands the initiative to the opponents.

Dont get me started on the size of the squad ( and the fact we played the youth team in a recent reserve game- how do you defend that

Interesting view point. I agree totally about the effort. It's too easy to make comment about lack of effort when looking for a reason for not winning games especially when playing against ten men for an hour.
Even more interesting to me is the view about the nature of the manager in setting up for games. Having seen the way Luton played a month ago at their place and the movement (particularly through midfield) I expected the line up we got on Saturday. The obvious thing now though for me would be in a desire to "stop the rot" any views about staying in the game and negative formations even (especially?) at home are going to appear more attractive to a somewhat beleagured management team. We are at that stage in the season where we haven't got the luxury of going all-out attack because given our position the risks attached to getting beat 3-2 at home after an all guns blazing attacking performance are enormous. Any fan who says they'd take an attacking display with an end result of nil points isn't being completely honest with themselves. I'd love us to be more positive but I'm almost resigned to more of the same for the rest of this season.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

I'd take a 3-2 loss with all guns blazing, as opposed to a 1-0 loss where we fail to test the keeper against 10 men whilst retaining 3 center backs !!

Again, no issues with the players effort levels. Agree completely with the above posts, a pathetic 28 goals in 32 games, I'm told 17 games without scoring? We are set up to defend, not to score goals. We aren't very good at defending either. What a mess, but sacking Slade now and bringing in a manager who will use a different approach would be a good start. The squad is shite, but shouldn't be in danger of relegation.

I totally agree with you there, for that particular game at least. I also agree with Barra, that we are at the stage now where we just need to grind out some results, anyway we can.

We now seem to be playing the way Slade did in his first season, when we played more football but didn't win much. Second season he changed tack and went more direct. We don't look to have the players currently to make that more direct style work like he did last time.

I just want a win or two on the board now, whatever style or formation achieves it.

Not taking advantage of 10 men by adding pace and width was why we struggled after Summers' rash tackle and earlier sending off.
Dixon was turned inside out twice by their winger.

To be clear I'm not advocating a continuation I'm just trying to put myself into Slade's pragmatic thoughts.  The end result would've been the same. Don't get me wrong I'd "like" to see us really go for it but Saturday night would still have been the same-we'd all have been looking at the bottom of the table rather than the top. We'd still have lost the last four home games and to those fans who weren't there another defeat wouldn't have attracted them back even if this board had been full of never ending praise for the performance. All I'm saying is that to the people who can most influence it going gung ho looks a less attractive proposition

My thinking is Slade's train of thought will be (despite what he said about playoffs) he needs a few wins to stay safe hence the temporary loans
to ensure this because he as no faith in our strikers. Trouble is at the end of the season they will no longer be with us.

So this is a consolidation exercise nothing more, now how Fenty reacts to that will be interesting given he stated we will push on.

Slade obviously realizes this is the third time he could lose his job and so trying to defend his own position perhaps rather than taking risks on the field.

Never seen us have so many strikers in the team one can only assume in the summer IF we do stay up a lot of staff will be going.

Big question is will Slade and Wilco be amongst them because season ticket sales will depend on it imho.

But I went back after missing two home games. I went back because he changed it about away at Colchester and we had two players I hadn't seen.  Given that there were 3500 or so home fans (as opposed to 3000 last home game) I wasn't alone.  I would be going next Saturday if I had been entertained this week.  Even if we had lost 3-2.  But I'm not.  No excitement, nothing to get on your feet about, and less atmosphere than the fcuking moon.  I do understand your view Barra and I tend to agree with it.  But unfortunately I won't be there to witness such dross.

Trying to do what for weeks? The formation and personnel changed completely at Colchester and it almost worked. He has tightened us up and quite rightly in my opinion. We were shipping too many goals and not giving ourselves a chance. Dembele and DJ/Woolford were not doing any damage. I think the formation we have now is the right one in the circumstances. Others may disagree.

No mate, not even then.  JF and Co must be fully aware of our feelings by now. So I really don't think a protest would make the slightest bit of difference to JF's mindset.  He is in full on self protection mode as is RS.  If I thought it would help in the long run I would quite happily attend.  I feel for the players and the rest of the staff at BP (obviously RS and PW excepted) and I don't feel that they should get caught up in all of this. Ideally I would love to see us stay up with relevant ease and then RS to go before the Summer.
But I don't think for one moment that that will happen.

I don`t blame the players albeit they are hardly Brazil 70 but they try. I can support that ordinarily but the style of play and lack of goal threat allied with the lack of atmosphere and negative vibes generated by RS and even more so the board means scores of hardened fans have had enough.
