Asante back at Grimsby on Tuesday and wants to fight for his place. Went to Solihull to get match fit which he did under Richard Money who then departed suddenly, new Manager came in, Mark Yates, wanted his own striker in who has scored 1 goal in 10 games. (That goal was laid on by Asante). Asante just warmed the bench up.

And Assante has scored 0 goals in 10 games. How many did he start? I'd like him to be the answer, but I can't see it. If he was that good, the manager wouldn't leave him out.

Still wants to play for Town, that's the sort of player who deserves a chance.

The new manager in at Solihull puts a new angle on it, potentially. We all know how that works, new manager in, certain players frozen out, managers favourites kept top of the pecking order. Still think he could offer something, just a shame he has so much to prove to a manager with very little apparent clue as to what a good striker is or how to get them playing to their best.

You don't suddenly forget how to score goals. Look at his record in the past. For Birmingham City throughout his Academy days and development squad, top scorer. Solihull Moors top scorer in one and a half seasons, even with the half season he still ended up top scorer.(Look at you Tube). Strikers work on confidence, he knows he has to give it everything. Lets just see give him a chance, he could solve the goal issue. When Asante went to Solihull, he was not fit, he had not played any matches at Grimsby. He went to Solihull to get fit, this he did before the manager that brought him in on loan left, so a bit unfair to look at his goal ratio, when the games he did play he was achieving match fitness. Jamie Osborne for instance went to Solihull match fit.

"You don't suddenly forget how to score goals"I'm not sure how that theory fits in with the current team But yes, he needs at least the same amount of chances/game time as Hooper, that'd be a decent evaluation period and only fair.

He isn’t exactly up against great competition though.
