Fair play to David Burns he tells it how it is. He's not been popular with town fans but looking back he's been spot on about Fenty from the start.

He said he remembers when Fenty came into the club when we was in the Championship and when he took the reigns Burnsy said that man will take Grimsby Town down the leagues and he was right.
He actually said non league.

Non league is more damning. I used to think Burnsey was a gobby oaf, but as I've aged, I've come to realise he is a pretty good journalist.

Have to say that I was offended by his words about us going to non-League at the time - subsequent history showed him to be spot on - I bet he wishes he'd put a bet on.

I have just had a listen.
I used to work with Nigel, so respect his judgement. I have met Burnsey and as Old Codger says he is more astute than you would imagine.
I would think if it was off air the "air" would turn blue - but it comes over loud and clear that Fenty is the clubs biggest problem, but we all knew that anyway.
Some interesting things were said. "Back him or sack him" was Burns' mantra and it is true. If the board think Slade is the right man then back him up in the transfer marker. Burns made me smile when he said "Slade says in the board meeting - we are short of goals and desperately need a top striker and I have got these options - A) one is an experienced striker just coming back from injury and he will cost £x that we will have to fund .B) I also like a young lad from Derby, who will pay most of the wages. We will take option B says Fenty. Probably true!! As Nigel said - we need real quality to make a difference.
One caller said gates would double if we woke up tomorrow and Fenty had quit. Probably right.
One of them said, should the Trust consider their position to be involved at all with the Fenty set up??
The final thing I remember was them discussing a dignified exit strategy for Fenty. That is what is needed - no need to grind axes just accept it hasn't worked and find a way to move on.

Think that the Trust would gain a lot of credibility if it came out and said it could not work with Fenty anymore and withdraw from the board. You have to face it they would have as much influence not being on the board as they do being on it.

I think it is becoming more clearer to people what the root cause of our problems are.

Never been overly mad on Burnsey but I learnt to appreciate that he was being devilish, and even a downright wind-up merchant when he would drop controversial little snippets and veiled accusations into the football chat regarding Town.
I realised it was his job to do this. Unlike Fenty and Slade who have, or should have more pressing matters.

I would like to hear something along these lines from the Trust.I have tried and tried to get behind JF over the years but he frustrates to the point his position is now untenable and he must be removed. The Trust are probably the only seat on the board who could publicly call for a vote of no confidence in him and when they don't get any support from the nodding dogs Marley and Co they can resign their seat in protest.

And then the trust would be separated from those running the club, with no goodwill, no influence and nothing but the hope that somebody else will eventually buy Fenty out at some unspecified future date.
In effect, the trust then wouldn't be able to do anything much to represent the fans which is their whole point.

You may well be right and that`s why I would suggest the Trust should speak to their membership sooner rather than later to find out what they want? This survey may help but the sheer noise around at the minute would suggest an awful lot of people even if not the majority want some sort of change?

B Teams, SLO, lack of club action on bragate points to v little/no influence on the GTFC board. It’s not the fault of the Trust but they do need to act.

I'd still rather have someone on the inside than on the outside. Once the position is given up it could be too late if the club do start negotiating with a dodgy buyer.

I'd rather have an inefficient shambles than someone ruthlessly efficient at getting us deeper in debt and losing the ground as a consequence.
