One of our only exciting players, our current top goal scorer (I think?), and more importantly less than a year into being a professional footballer, and there’s some fans offering to drive him to our local rivals.
The famous fans of Grimsby Town, everybody.
Jesus Christ, he might not be in the best of form, but no one really is at the minute! Who are these better players we’re gonna replace him with??
A more plausible explanation has already been made. He's aware that a higher league club are interested, that that would mean more money and that he would really quite like to go. Let's not forget how Omar's form dipped in the transfer window. Yes, he's one of our more talented players but not if he can't be arsed.

Wouldn't want to see one of our best players leave. Might be on a bit of a slump in form and he still has things to learn, but no way would I be happy to lose him.

Another thread where spitefulness and a bunch of assumptions are the order of the day.
For me - a good player who isn't being managed effectively and is playing in a cr@p team that doesn't allow him to express his assets often enough.
I'd be surprised if he'd impressed an ambitious L1 club though (given some recent indifferent performances), and am even more surprised that some fans would evidently like to get rid of him, given that he is one of the better players in a big squad of largely average types.
You put him in Luton's team, and he'd be knocking on the L1 door for sure.

The famous fans of Grimsby Town
I take it you have never looked at another teams message board. Or spoken to supporters of other teams. I don’t agree with the posters that slag him off and I would love to see him stay. Be properly managed and to prove to the doubters what he is capable of. But if you think this sort of reaction is exclusive to GTFC fans you are very very naive indeed.

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

He’s not on form and definitely a sulker, that’s for sure. He’s the only centre forward we’ve got though that can put his foot on the ball and roll a defender. He didn’t have the best of games on Saturday but because of the poor squad we’ve put together, we had no better options. Imagine going in to games with our first choice partnership being Vernon and Hooper or Hooper and Matt? It’s not good enough. Jones is a steady player for this level. Playing well short of his best but we need to stick by him and hopefully keep him.

Most players do their best to play to the instructions of their manager even when those instructions don't suit their game but if those instructions are shite it makes the player look shite. If those instructions were to go out and play your game that you feel happy with and ignore all the "expert" instructions from a hasbeen who neverwas I am sure we would see a better and happier bunch of players [and supporters]

All efforts must be made to retain Jones and other promising younger players. We need a goalscorer, goalie and a left back. Contract negotiations of existing players are as important as signings at this stage.

What I'm not quite sure about regarding Jones and also Osbourne is that both apparently believe that an attacking midfield role is their strongest position. Despite this, neither Bignot or Slade ever really played them in this sort of a role. Heck, Slade ended up sticking Jones out on the wing in his failed formation at the start of the season. Osbourne played out wide as often as not as well.
To some degree, I wonder if their respective Conference teams were willing to shape their style of play around the two because they were good enough to make a difference at that level. In the League? Perhaps less so.
Regardless, a pity that we've not seen the best of either of them often enough.
