Just because we got one striker who was brilliant from there doesn’t mean we willl get another

Doesn't mean we won't either. He's scoring in a poor side and that says he has something about him.

Probably bullsh1t anyway, but dismissing a player because he plays for a "sh1t side" is nonsense.

Lets face it;
we cant afford to buy a proven goalscorer,
we probably couldn't even attract a proven goalscorer (as there are potentially 12/13 other teams in League 2 who may be a better proposition right now)

so we are left with ......

an out of favour striker or recovering from injury striker at another club ...   best case scenario from those would be a League 1 player i imagine
raw young talent looking for League action to develop ..... from a Championship club maybe at a push,
goalscorer at a lower level ........competition from other teams for such a signature a probable issue.

For me, i think we will end up with either an out of favour League 1 striker who may need a few games to get match fit........or a fast raw talent from a U21/23 Championship club to help us with the counter attack style of play.

Post Edit .... missed one off ...
or....
a journeyman striker with a 1 : 4 level career average that is looking for a last 18 month deal somewhere..

To be fair, a shite striker with some pace could probably improve us by simply running around a lot and giving the opposition defence something to think about instead of the usual plodding stuff in front of them.

with the exception of Luton i would say all other teams in the running or trying to break into the running may want to strengthen that area.

Signing a striker is not the only answer to our problems we could sign £100,000 striker put him into this team and he will struggle, we also need to be able to put some quality balls into the danger areas we need mid fielders who dare to have a punt at goal that are capable of hitting the target giving instinctive strikers a chance on the follow up.

I think we've got players capable of supplying the balls if there is movement in front of them. Right now we could have a midfield of Iniesta, Pirlo and Paul Scholes and we still wouldn't get many chances as we're completely lacking in movement in the final third. We're also criminally slow. At no point does anybody look to go beyond the strikers and we're not even coming short to pull them out of position, it's terrible.

If we got a couple of players with pace and movement that will at least pull the opposition defence around a bit more and give them something to think about then I think Summerfield, Davies and Dembele wouldn't be completely useless at creating chances.

Looking forward to a brighter future now Fenty has gone.

Bonne is the joint top scorer playing for a team 2 places above the relegation zone, which is always a positive if you can score regularly in a struggling team

I will not be taking any notice of any rumours from either the club or the social media.

Given the situation at the moment the club has to look as though it’s actively trying to resolve the situation.
I fully expect to hear the usual ‘we’ve been looking/deal fell through at the last minute etc etc as per normal. It may or may not be true, to be honest I’m past caring. I will believe we have signed someone when I physically see it. I will also judge that player when I physically see them. (Given how I feel at the moment, that may be some time) !

Of course I’ll have a quick read of the threads, but only out of idle curiosity.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Based on his signings thus far ( especially strikers ) then I certainly don't expect much. The problem is not really the strikers ( although we don't have any standout ones except Jones and he's really an attacking midfielder ) it's the antiquated system that RS uses. We have to have more creativity in mid-field even if it means sacrificing a winger.

If you look at any of our footage from this season, movement off the ball throughout the team, is dreadful.  So regardless who we have up front, we won't create and score many goals.  The next person coming into the club needs to be a manager who motivates players and get's them playing football.  At present all our players are underperforming, it says a lot when our worst player last season and everyone boo boy (Summerfield) is now one of our better performers.  Has he improved that much in such a short time or has the quality around him dipped, which makes him look better?

Go on them, I'll make some rumours up, whoops, here's some rumours I've heard..

Robbie seen at Millfields.
Ivano seen playing at Grimsby golf club.
Buckley 4, seen munching at Tacho Bell, is a strong possible contender.
Cowley seen calling at Morrisons petrol station fill up for trip back down the A46 after being unsucessful in his job aplication at a bigger club.

You've got the Cowley rumour the wrong way round. He was filling up to go back up the A46 to Lincoln after being unsucessful in his job aplication at a bigger club.

After his showing this season it’s very hard to see him getting into one of the two’s mentioned first team he’s looked lethargic and very slow he has ability but he’s not using it with us at all imo

Don't give the twit in the hat any money he will spend it on excrement.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.
