Not going to happen is it? He will bring in another couple of average signings and limp to the end of the season in mid table, then tell us how it didn't quite go to plan and how next season we will see some progress. Rinse and repeat.

I really don't want to agree with this but I'm afraid it's very highly likely. Whatever, I won't be back to BP until at the very least Judas is banished for good.

Come on Fenty, grow some and sack this fraud now. Then take a long look at your own position.

I don't really like to see managerial changes mid-season and always like to give managers and players the chance but this is turning into a proper shower of shite. We're doing worse this season under this "experienced" manager than we did under the great pretender Bignot. Hopefully the board will give Slade the chop sooner than it took them to sack Bignot so we can salvage something from this season.

Agree with Ginny he'll be here to the end of the season and possibly beyond. Though I don't like what is being served up with no money in the pot we would find it hard to get a decent manager to come to GTFC and even harder finding one who would be willing to work with a bit part squad put together by 3 managers.

The depressing fact is that Ginny is right. JSF made a big call to sack Bignot and replace him with his 'mate', he's too stubborn to sack him nine months in.

Becoming embarrassing now how poor the players and game plan is, a few weeks ago we played decent football and all of sudden we go back to hoof ball and excrement performances, time to get rid of the wasters and losers at the club and that includes you Fenty.

Our squad is so bad that even a new manager will not liven us I fear. When I saw the team this afternoon I decided not to listen(it was on in the background). Vernon, Woolford, Dixon, Osbourne. Killip, Berrett, Clarke. That is an abysmal line up and the fact we never score is no surprise. Should we lose vs Morecambe on Saturday as much as I hate changing managers I would. This is as bad a team going forward as I can remember utm

I agree we are not seeing many positives just now. However we are in the transfer window so if a new manager came in he would have no chance of assessing the present squad and identifying replacements. So I think we are stuck with RS until the end of the season at least. Let us pray we can cobble together 5 more wins before the end of the season, starting on Sat.

I listened to that and am amazed how he can say that, on RH it didn't sound like their keeper was that busy.

We had 5 shots and only 2 on target for the whole game compared to Crewe who had 13 with 9 on target.

Whilst I am not at all impressed with RS right now, its interesting to note what is happening to some of the current managers who Fishy Fans wanted to appoint over the past few years:

Mark Cooper..... about to be sacked
Atkins..... just been slagged off with Targers hovering above relegation
Mills.... been a disaster with York

Is the grass greener on the other side?

Sacking the manager is not the answer. The club needs a complete shift in direction.
The fans are divided and the ownership are completely out of touch with them. The fans need something to rally around.

The club gets the crowds to be sustainable in this division and with a positive plan of action communicated with the fans we could see gates that would put our income above this division.
The fans need a positive plan and positive actions to get behind. We need to be able to trust those running the club.

That must of been the slowest GTFC team I have ever seen how the f*ck are we going to win games with vernon and woolford upfront the 2 slowest players at the club with 2 goals between them SHOCKING !!! slade have you lost the plot it’s time to go I had high hopes with him and Wilko beginning of the season and I forgive slade for walking away years ago but it’s been the same old hoof ball boring to watch tactics I really don’t know who could replace him if anyone at this stage but it’s been poor to watch all season and I can see now why fans are staying away the clubs a joke at the minute and the players simply aren’t good enough SORT IT OUT

Let's face it he already has a host of excuses. Lumbered with a big squad of average talent,

Players under contracts not up to standard so he needs to but can't offload.

No chance of bringing people in unless he sells our best player, His first full season in charge so avoiding relegation was his the aim.

Etc etc etc.

Exactly, I don;t like the personal stuff aimed at John Fenty but he needs to stand up acknowledge previous mistakes and talk us through a stage by stage plan of how he wants  to take us forward. No stadium pipe dreams but just affirmative action on how the 3 main directors plan to give us success on the pitch and make visiting BP a pleasurable experience as at the moment they have lost sight of both.

Though I don't like the personal stuff aimed at Fenty after Marley's performance at the fans forum that smug arrogant so and so deserves all he gets.

It's Mr Fenty again.
When he sacked the loonie he went straight out and got a bloke who had been sacked three times in 12 months, is at the end of his managerial career, has never taken a side to any sort of success, was dog excrement the first time around and that 90% of fans didn't want all because it was the easy choice.
I don't blame Slade coming here on the best contract any manager has been on at Town for years.
Fenty pay Slade and Wilko off out of your own pocket with the 250k you took out of the club because it is yet again your intercourse up.

When Bignot went you had the perfect opportunity to take a breath while DM was I charge and get the advice from people who know about football and get the right man to take us forward.
Mr Fenty you need as much advice as you can get because you know intercourse all about football.

FFS Get rid of Slade and Wilko now.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Fully agree with Grantham Mariner, don't give him any money, just get rid of him. I for one have had it, and wont be attending Blundell Park on Saturday, and hope others do the same. Hit Fenty hard in the pocket if he doesn't get rid. I reckon Mike Lyons could give Slade a run for his money..... er,no he couldn't, haha.Times up Mr.Slade, do the decent thing for us all, and walk out on the club, again !!

Sacking the manager is not the answer. The club needs a complete shift in direction.

Its part of the answer and is needed. I can think of only one "fan" who currently thinks Slades appointment made him feel "Cocka hoop!"

The fans are divided and the ownership are completely out of touch with them. The fans need something to rally around.

Why are the fans divided? We all want the same thing: to be entertained and to have success. All we want is a team and manager we can "rally around" and believe in.

The club gets the crowds to be sustainable in this division and with a positive plan of action communicated with the fans we could see gates that would put our income above this division.

That’s all ifs, buts and maybe’s. The board had every opportunity to do this after Operation Promotion. But did they?

The fans need a positive plan and positive actions to get behind. We need to be able to trust those running the club.

The fans don’t need a positive plan at all. The board and the manager need a positive plan. In fact, any plan at all because they don’t seem to have one at the minute. You must earn trust. Do you honestly believe the board are doing everything possible to earn the trust of the fans?

Bringing players is not the end of what is needed,, we need someone that can get them playing . if slade is not sacked we could sign half the man city side and slade would distroy them  with his hoofball crap and 11 men defending corners.

He's got another 3 1/2 years to go at £138 k plus Wilko's wages for probably the same length of time, so who is going to pay -£3/4 million if paid in full He'll still be here after most of us have called it a day.

I think I could've explained that better. I meant the club needs to communicate a positive plan and follow it through with positive action. I think the board are failing and have a lot to do to win trust.

Anyone who plays Vernon up front on his own with Woolford behind him shouldn't be allowed to manage a kids team let alone a professional one.

He's got another 3 1/2 years to go at £138 k plus Wilko's wages for probably the same length of time, so who is going to pay -£3/4 million if paid in full He'll still be here after most of us have called it a day.

How do you know this? Or is it a Golferism?

I think I could've explained that better. I meant the club needs to communicate a positive plan and follow it through with positive action. I think the board are failing and have a lot to do to win trust.

We certainly need something positive as in reality going to BP is a chore not an enjoyable experience. I was once proud of the atmosphere generated by the BP faithful and gloat as away managers used to say what a hard place it was to visit and win.

Nowadays, there is no atmosphere, the quality of football has for over ten seasons, give or take the odd performance, has been pretty dire.

Currently suffering with the flu so missed Accy game and unlikely to be fit for Morcombe this Saturday which is making my poor health seem like a blessing. Not felt this despondent about the club since Woods 20 odd game trial run and we know how that ended.

As I said on another thread yesterday we have a max of 5 players who should be at the club and I do not see all of these five as first team regulars, wish someone could explain how experienced proffessionals could sign so much dross. JF there are non as blind as those that cannot see!!!

So why do you think Fenty has personal stuff aimed at him?

I'll give you a clue (or several). He's made several bad appointments, he's made several PR faux pas and he's now decided to alienate the fans. Do you see any prospect of him admitting his errors? This has gone on for 15 years and the sad thing is that there's no hope of it coming to an end so tight is the financial hold he has over the club. Who, in their right mind, would consider buying a controlling interest in a skint football club in a deprived area with a knackered stadium?

In truly cynical mode, why do you think Marley was wheeled out at the Forum? IMHO, it was for us to believe that there's more than one incompetent muppet on the board.

As much as I hate everything about RS as a manager, from his recruitment of the slowest side we've ever had to his condescending attitude to fans and reporters, from his archaic tactics to his ultra boring playing style that's ruining our club and not even getting results..

The last thing I want is a boardroom that knows absolutely nothing about the game of football picking another manager.

As fans, we are in the Catch 22s of all Catch 22s..

Our club is doomed unless someone else gets a grip of our club at the top. In the meantime all we can do is helplessly spout hot air, or even worse, just forget about the club completely like thousands of others have done, and save ourselves the grief..

The answer to your last paragraph is that Fenty will always insist that if you can get 2 players for the price of one that is a "good deal." A bit like in the fish business. Sadly what you actually get is 2 mediocre players for the price of one good one.

Slade has to go by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. He is a joke and this crap cannot go on any longer.  I don't like fans boycotting their club, but I honestly would not mind if the fans boycotted the  next home game against Morecambe, just to show the Board who sick to the teeth we all are with this manager.  He should never ever have been allowed back here.  He has just about failed at every club he has every been involved with and should return to teaching.  THOSE THAT CAN, CAN, THOSE THAT CAN'T TEACH...............  enough said.

The problem for me is that our recruitment in the summer was pathetic. We aimed to high with alleged approachs for Revell, Maynard, Walker, Chicksen, Crofts etc and I’m sure there are mang more and we missed out on them. We wasted too much time on them and ended up scrabbling around for the leftovers from what other people didn’t want (Dixon, Woolford, Hooper). Also on the basis of what I have seen Wilko is as much to blame. He recommended the signings of Killip, Kelly, Hooper and all three are very poor in my opinion. Due to this we have to play this dull, depressing and ugly style and at the moment it isn’t even effective. Only Macca, Davies, Mills, Collins, Clarke, Dembele, Summerfield and arguably Matt are good enough and 5 of those are Hurst’s players. We need a massive clearout but I don’t trust Slade or Wilko to do it, but nor do I trust Fenty to sack them and then make the right appointment. What do we do?

I've wasted my life in black and white, a pathetic act for a worthless cause

Support him to the end of the season at least. Sacking him now would end up being an even bigger disaster.
Only 2 weeks ago Notts County fans said we were the best team they had seen there this season. Also the Swindon game at home was the best match there had been for a long time.
Every mid table team has a bad run of form.
Sl;ade is going nowhere this season.
I am not his biggest fan but live in hope he can turn it round.

Well i live in reality. Truth is most didn't want him back, most (Nigel Lowther included) couldn't work out why he had been brought back and most saw it as a Fenty-driven appointment. The fact is that he has lost the fans. Can he win the fans back? I doubt it. If you are rose-tinted, his style can be described as pragmatic, most in the Lower Findus call it dull, boring, mundane, crap..and worse. Problem is that he's like the man who employed him, my way or the highway, single-minded if you're a believer, stubbornasfuck if you're not.

The club needs to change - not just the manager but the whole lot - we look like a bunch of dinosaurs stuck in Jurassic Park.

If Slade was sacked today, and I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be ok - how long would it take to find and appoint a new manager? To make a better decision than the last 2? Serious question...4 weeks at the quickest, maybe 6-8 weeks? Maybe appoint a caretaker until the end of the season?
Bang goes your transfer window opportunity. If we want to do anything this season, we need to sign players in the next 4 weeks and ideally cut a few loose if we can. Instead of imploring Fenty to sack Slade right now, we would be better asking him and the board to make resources available to Slade to make signings. We can then judge these players and him and Wilko, and see where we are and avoid unnecessary, unhelpful instability and squandering our only chance to change things on the pitch this season. Sack him now - new man comes in end of Feb (say), and has to make do with inherited, largely substandard players.

I am not sure most didn't want him back. He seemed to get a positive reaction in that first game against Cambridge and subsequent home games; I was happy with his appointment as I didn't trust Fenty after the Bignot debacle and I thought employing an experienced manager who knew Fenty's faults would be the best thing.

Less than 3 weeks ago we were doing ok; not  great but with January looming we thought we might be able to make a play off push.

The problems lie above Slade if we are going to get anywhere. I don't suppose any of his signings (bar Clarke) were Slade's first choice. We don't pay enough to attract the quality we need, otherwise we would get them.

There's no point sacking Slade if we don't appoint someone better. Obviously, the plan was to replace Bignot with Slade as there was such a small gap between them. If Slade goes out of the blue it will be Paul Wilkinson will be in charge. It's hard to separate our what contribution he has made, but the last thing we want is to keep replacing the manager every transfer window! Half the problem at the moment is that the squad is not good enough, or deep enough. But I still think with maybe two class signings we have the makings of a squad that could challenge for a top 7 spot.

I don't think there is an easy answer. So I expect we will carry on and hope things get better.

But, of Slade's signings, who are good enough? Clarke & Dembele out of 12 signings?

I agree but surely he realises that himself and may adopt a different approach this window. Like getting more or different input from others, or looking at stats more, anything but his approach in the summer.

Top post. The squad is lacking in quality, time to add it and not spunk loads of dough on a sacking.

As I said to Fenty (in his undercover persona as 'getyourfactsright') in November:-

'Mr Fenty, Sir, All Powerful One, My Lord etc etc

I will forgive you everything, every member-up and stupid decision since your arrival, shaking hands with me at Braintree after you had a urine and before you washed your hands, being rude to me at Colchester, breaking that little kid's flag, sacking Mighty, upsetting Radio Humberside, blackmailing the Trust into parting with their shares and running onto the pitch at Braintree like some schoolboy if you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get rid of Slade and Wilkinson NOW before we return to the Conference.

I remain sir your obedient bum boy and sh!t stirrer

Swin'

A couple of wins took the wind out of my sails then but I repeat my plea now - Slade has to go!

Give the job to Dave Moore for the rest of the season, I think we probably have enough in the tank (given some plausible tactics and selections coupled with numerous kicks up certain arses) to avoid relegation if he is in charge. Forget the January window signings-wise and just concentrate on keeping Dembele

But, maybe some players don't want to play for him? Or us (like Osborne)? Or Fenty? We are hardly an appealing attraction.

This season is a write off whether Slade stays or goes. Forget about sorting this out in the January window I don't think it's possible. I also think the chance of us going down is fairly remote as we should be able to just about grind out enough points.

Personally I'd sack him now spend a few months finding a suitable replacement and start afresh in the summer. Yes we'll still have the likes of Dixon, Hooper and Kelly but most of the squad are out of contract and we can have a (mostly) clean sweep.

All those saying keep Slade but add some quality players during this transfer window do you have any faith in him signing anyone decent?

He signed Hooper as his main striker giving him the no. 9 shirt and now what is he 2nd or 3rd choice substitute if he's lucky.

Watching that today was depressing (as well as expensive over £100 train fare and admission for me and the other half).

Just listened to his after match interview, he's frigging delusional.

I agree with you Swansea Mariner. Write off this season and take time to get the right person in. Then he will have the time to asses the squad.

Your all talking about sacking Slade but look where he has been at really championship finished just outside the play offs with Cardiff, won two managers of the year in league one, his teams 8/10 get in the play offs maybe not in his first season but that second season is were sladey shines, let’s get behind the lads for god sake UTM !!

How many times has he got a team promoted in his 20 odd years of Management?

its not whats he's done in the past its about what he's doing in the present, we are terrible. Even when we win we are crap, two promising performances all season and thats it, If you have belief in him then fairdoos but I think 90% of the supporters don't.

What do we do in training? Do we do training? Do we just put a couple of jackets down 20 yards apart and say "OK lads as soon as you score you can go home-see you Saturday. When I played we had team talks,we practised moves,we discussed moves and then practised them on the training field. We had a plan A in different areas of the pitch. If these weren't working they were changed by the coach via the captain. Team talk at 1/2 time-change tactics if needed. Only Summerfield is vociferous on the pitch and he's not even captain. I repeat "Do they do proper training"
