Let’s see how it pans out.

No new faces in shows the boards acceptance of where we are and the usual lack of ambition. If (and it is an If) Osbourne does not return it shows that we can’t trust RS in what he says or what he does.

But (Happy New Year Pete)

If we get a half decent striker and Osbourne returns and fulfils his potential then yes we could push for the play offs.

I know what I think will happen, but am happy to start defrosting the humble pie.

How do we know the Osborne situation is the fault of the club or the manager, it maybe that for "personal reasons" he just doesn't want to play for GTFC anymore.

I think that JF was clear about new faces at the debacle that was the fans forum in that some will have to leave before others join.

I think the best we can hope for is that we can ship a few out and we get some half decent loanees.

Herts, which of our non starters would anybody, even Conference want, so how do we get them out, if we loan them out but still pay the majority of their wage then we still have no financial gain to buy and pay someone new. The only hope is if we get a 21 year old from a premier club who are prepared to still pay his wage.

Can't disagree with any of that to be honest.

Good points. We need new faces in January if we want to avoid a stagnant, nothing season and dwindling interest, but that will make the squad number stupidly big, with no prospect of getting shut of many (if any) in the short term, so likely to be costly financially, and difficult to manage.

IMO we need a bloody good clear out of average to below par players at the end of the season. Maybe as many as 6 to 10, which is easier said than done of course, with some under contract. I think we have suffered by the last three managers all signing their fair share of mediocre players on too long contracts.

Have to agree with the OP, definitely a very important month ahead.  Boat needs to be winterised, would have done it sooner but the Great Ouse has been in flood.  Fishing gear cleaned down and replenished, logs for the woodburner chopped, bbq hibernated after tonight, golf shoes re-spiked.  Oh and the AC Cob rep (can’t afford an original) needs to be drained of fluids and cold waxed.  The list goes on.

If only we had a club worth supporting eh, then I wouldn’t need to spend my money on other weekend amusements.

The making of the situation may or may not be the fault of the club.

The handling of it is.

So let’s hope I’m wrong and Osbourne comes back firing on all cylinders.

Why are the club handling it wrong? Unless I've missed something they have let him stay with SHM so that he can get some balance in his personal life. Remember we paid a fee for him he has talent and if leaving him on loan for an extra couple of weeks gets 15 - 20 good games from him towards the end of the season maybe it's a fair price to pay.

Might be hard to stomach especially after yesterday but we need to trust RS on this as he'll know the best way to  either get him playing or get him away for a fee.

You are not reading and then digesting my comments. I haven’t said the club are handling it wrong. I have said that I hope he comes back firing on all cylinders.  I personally don’t think that will happen and I do think he is taking the urine. But I would love to be corrected. Let’s see how it pans out !!

I agree with chaos. Too much mediocrity in the squad and all three managers are to blame. Therein lies another problem. Too many changes of manager and not much continuity since we got back in the league. Someone needs to start joining the dots on and off the pitch. Let's hope tomorrow is the start.
