Genuine questions, we all know he was a school teacher, but what subject. To what level if any has he played the game. I assume he has a certain level of coaching badge, again to what level. Also can anyone who pays the fee take the badges. When he has been at a club for more than a season where did that club finish, e.g. Apart from us way back has he taken any other club to a playoff.

Slade used to teach Darren Fletcher who works on BT & 5 Live, Fletcher has gone on record a few times on the radio that he thought Slade was an excellent teacher.

A PGCE does not make a good coach, UEFA badges do that and even then you’ve got to have a personality to make it happen.

I believe Slade was on the books of Notts County and played centre half. He played a few reserve games for them I believe.

Don't think whether he played the game is that relevant. An increasing number of Coaches/Manager's are emerging and being successful who never played the game (or to any decent standard).

I have no problem with Slade's lack of playing experience.

When it comes down to it, all I care about is his ability to build a strong squad, get them playing good football and winning matches to get us in contention of promotion.

He's built a large squad, not a strong one; he's got us playing dull football and we're winning as many as we're losing (with a -6 goal difference).

He may need more time to improve - which, to be fair, we have - so maybe he can take us forward next season. But I'm not particularly happy just to see us meander into a 14th place finish this season. If we're going to end up mid-table I'd at least like him to adapt his philosophy and get the team playing more fluent, attacking football to win the fans back.

I would hope so too, having gone on to manage in the Championship. The man can only operate within budget, and It's fair to say some players haven't been up to it... We have a massive squad... Lets hope we can offload deadwood before bringing in some better players.

Every dog has his day. Slade peaked a few years ago sadly. He will get found out when it comes to season ticket sales in the summer, should he still remain here.

I would really like to renew my ST next season - the only way it will happen is with a progressive manager and a progressive budget.

Exactly this. Worked his way up to the Championship, failed, and is working his way back towards non league. If he had done the biz in the higher divisions, no way would he be managing a mid table League 2 side now.

Qualifications or experience, I'm working with people who have neither in my industry that make decisions and lead teams, all poor in their roles and unremovable unless it's promotion. There is however one manager who worked on the tools, made technical specialist, then team leader and next year becomes Field Manager, he is very good at his job, and understands issues when they are explained to him, the others wing it. I guess what I am saying is that Sladeball is winging it, his type of game needs strong and fast players who has he brought in that fits that picture. Ultimately Sladeball will have us mid table bang average and Fenty won't mind until we are a new stadium.

Bang on Marinerz93 percentages/text book approach will get you so far but he's obviously lacking that key ingredient.

The table as with careers don't always tell the whole story early on ,  but as our season unfolds, just as Slade career has over 20 years it's clear that both are a story of just making up the numbers and achieving absolutely nothing.

He is being led by a boardroom that has achieved absolutely nothing but abject failure. Where is the inspiration, drive and determination?

True honours don't always tell the whole story Newell got two clubs promoted and Nicky Law has done it at three clubs, does that make Slades career look better or worse in perspective.

Problem is some of that deadwood are on two year contracts, you only have to look at what a complete waste of a wage McAllister has been and he is still here.

I agree that Slade being an ex-teacher is not an issue (though if he was a good teacher, then he should stand a better chance of being a good coach), but there was a lot of noise on here (or was it the Grim Outlook?) about him being an ex-teacher during his first tenure.

I am with you on this one Wrabs. Slade has been saddled with a massive squad he as to offload the surplus at some point it is unsettling to every team player.

I suspect Slade to be a hell of a busy man in January he knows he cannot bring anybody on board until he gets rid.

2018 Q1 - Reduce squad, buy quality not quantity and consolidate league 2 status.

2018 Q3 - Repeat but improve on league position with added quality but reduced squad.

2019 - Repeat

2020 - Repeat play offs

3/5 year plan must look something like this. Would be nice for the club to release their 3/5 year plan then this way it might give the fans some reality to our realistic season targets rather than false hopes.

Maybe our liason officer could provide for us and might steady the ship.

We all want promotion but realistic chances are slim after just being back into the league.

Fingers crossed for squad refresh in January, UTM

Hope you all have a nice evening whatever your plans maybe 😊 🍾

And a stack of cash from a good cup run and their South African backers.

They have ideas and innovation from the top down we have apathy led by Fenty “The Minister of can’t do”.

But part of that is down to RS. He signed 11 players in the summer and half of those are not good enough. Woolford, , Kelly , JJ are all unnecessary signings and I'm sure he could have found a better left back than Dixon. RS is past his sell by date ( like Buckley Mk 3 was) and I don't think he will achieve anything with us. His tactics are non-existent , he has no Plan B ( and his Plan A is questionable) and there is a growing possibility that we may get sucked into a relegation battle if any of the bottom two show any improvement in form.

True and Slade is one of them. If we want to remain a League 2 side then stick with him. But if we have ambitions to rise higher in the football pyramid then, on his past record, Slade is not the man to do it.

I am with you on this one Wrabs. Slade has been saddled with a massive squad he as to offload the surplus at some point it is unsettling to every team player.

But Slade is the one who has built this massive squad!!!!!

He has signed / re-signed 17 players, of which, a significant number are not up to standard - Kelly, Dixon, Hooper, Woolford etc etc, with a number of these poor signings on 2 year deals!

He’s the one who is responsible for building such a large squad, I have zero faith whatsoever in him trimming the squad down and bringing better players in.

17+ the couple of young-uns, when he's handed out that many contracts in one transfer window he has to be held accountable for the squad.

If Slade hadn't been here before and had taken another club to that play-off final ( and promptly walked out to another club ) would his supporters have been so keen on his appointment based on his previous record?

The club is run so badly, I think Guardiola would struggle.
