DISCLAIMER: Fenty and Wraith - I am not, nor do I intend on bullying anyone into not attending a match, it is the personal preference of other fans and I will not argue with it, I am merely stating my opinion.

I’ve seen it mentioned on here a few times and I have to be honest, I’m starting to agree so I thought I’d make my own thread.

A few weeks ago I’d have not even considered it but now I genuinely think enough is enough. We need to take action. More than just chanting at the match or having a rant on here. Is boycotting the answer? Honestly I’m starting to think yes.

I don’t see any other way to really show how much we want change.

Everything else seems to have failed so why not boycott a league game to show fenty were deadly serious and that we want our club back.

I’d love it if we managed to get our smallest ever league attendance some time soon, surely that’d get the message across to our dictator? I’m sure he wouldn’t like to foot the bill to make up for the loss of matchday revenue.

It’s not like the loss of atmosphere would affect the players because there is no atmosphere at BP anyway.

The hull of the RMS Grimsby Town is well and truly below the waterline, buckled at the keel plates and going down fast. We’re in a lot of trouble.

I want my club back, anyone else?

We should do something like get as many to Boycott as possible then the next game try get every tom male private and Harry to the game. Show them what could happen if things don't change then show them what Grimsby fans can do

The only thing that will work is a massive $ signal that the club cannot continue to function in the way it is.

A gate less than 3k is a sign that there is a sinificant problem.

A gate less than 2k represents a big red button that indicates that £2m in loans is effectively a write off unless change occurs.

I bought a season ticket to attend every home game I can get to........and I will be doing that for the rest of this season.

But..... the way things are going it will be pay as you go for me next season, cherry picking my games.

FENTY OUT

The feelings in the stadium are not representative of the views on here I don't think.

I would much prefer it if Fenty moved aside, but there doesn't seem to be the groundswell of opinion in the ground I would have expected. I suppose we know that Fenty will not budge, no matter what protests are made. Ego and the need to recoup the loans will see to that.

I suppose what will happen is that after another couple of defeats Slade will really feel the heat, and Fenty may fire him as the fall guy and the whole sorry scenario will start again.

I hope we can get a result on Tuesday and for us to get behind the team again, because I suppose the brutal truth is that we have Fenty for the forseeable future unless something really dramatic happens which is unlikely. We basically have to succeed, somehow, in spite of Mr. Fenty being in charge.

I understand the sentiment but I didn't pay for 3 season tickets to sit at home. Next season will be a different story if either a. Slade's still here or b. Fenty is still here or c. Matt, Hooper, Woolford, Dixon or Clarke are still here (journeymen robbing a living)

It doesn't matter if season ticket holders turn up or not, they are already included in the attendance. Obviously away fans are added to the total attendance. So judging by to days attendance people are starting to stay away from games.

No disrespect, but it's not about the fans. Go or don't go. Respect either way.

It's about the team and the manager doing better. Much better.
You get what you pay for in football. That's what's happening.

I’ve been a sth for years, I’ve supported town through thick and thin.
I go because I choose to and I always will.
I’m not happy with the way things are going either, nor was I in lots of other seasons when things haven’t gone well.
But I renew my season ticket every year because I choose to knowing that things will happen that I don’t like or agree with.
But if you want to boycott a game then do it, but I will never condone, support or agree with such a ridiculous suggestion as boycotting a game.
I go because I choose to and accept to ups and downs equally

Ok....lets run with the idea.....people listen to your call ....we drop below 3000.....maybe 2000 .......that means we lose money....who subsidises debt ? JF with more loans....  self defeating.
Unless there is a plan B fully ready to initiate then why try and force Fenty out ?

Carry on the way we are there will be a sub 3000 crowd sooner rather than later.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Got my season ticket, paid my way, can't handle any more of that so I'll be at home Tuesday. At least my cash is already in, don't feel too bad as I generally buy a pint at half time, but not on working days as I'm driving.

I’ve been a regular at BP for 30 years, I won’t be going to anymore games for the foreseeable future. It’s dire, I’m not enjoying it and don’t want Slade in charge of the club I love, it’s the only way I feel I can get my point across other than moaning on here.

I think the attendance on Tuesday night will be 3000 at a push. This won't be people boycotting per se, it'll be folk who just can't bring themselves to watch no attacking football and a bunch of average players at best, going through the motions and trying to fluke their way to 0-0.

You don't need a boycott. The football will get the crowd it deserves (and that's being kind).

Myself - I'm really short of time and I've got young kids and not a lot of spare money. There's no way I'm driving 100 miles on Tuesday night to sit and be bored and frustrated to hell watching so called professionals make the same mistakes over and over again.
Until we manage some actual attacking intention I can't really see when I'll be back. I suspect a few will be feeling the same. I can't see any point.

I'll repeat a sentiment I expressed a week or so ago. I've got no time for the dramas, histrionics and spitefulness seen on here recently, but I do think it's a crying shame that the club have totally killed the rekindled enthusiasm and spirit generated by our return to the league. Shame on them.

It needs a vocal opposition to the board in the ground. Support the team - sack the board.

I imagine the grief will sadly be aimed at the players and the manager, not at the people who have killed the positive momentum that seems a lifetime ago.

To be honest, the players and manager have contributed to killing it too. Hurst started that by letting our best promotion assets leave.

I can't really accuse any of our players of not trying, it's not like when we were relegated before. They try, some are just lacking in quality. For me it comes down to budgets and trying to do everything on the cheap.

The worst thing about all of this for me is the way the club has treated the fans and the embarrasing communications.

I would imagine we will have our  lowest league gate of the season on Tuesday without planning a boycott.

Get behind the lads on the pitch its not there fault its the manager who dictates how we play.

You never know we might score a goal and you would hate it if you missed that rare occurrence .

Everyone seems to be in agreement that the players, for all their effort, aren’t good enough, or we’re missing a few quality players. It seemed to be the assumption that the players were bought ‘on the cheap’. Or, they are what we can afford and we’re living within our means.

We will not get better players if we actively seek to stop giving the club our custom. We will get the opposite.

I dunno what the answer is, but a bit of food for thought anyway.

I am not boycotting any game. If my team are playing and i can make it then I shall be there to show my support! Boycotting games doesn't do anything for the morale of the players/team.

It is the only bargaining chip we  have available ,seems as long as JF ignores the people who are the lifeblood of this club he has to be sent a message,if S/T holders boycott no less of revenue, short term pain for long term gain.

We  could turn up en masse for a  planned protest against the board and manager. An option to a boycott

If those who want Fenty out but do not want to boycott they could wave a white tissue in his direction.

My boycott is partly in protest at the board but more that my money is hard earned and I require entertainment with a 50/50 chance of winning, at the moment we have to be happy with a corner and 1/2 goal attempts. What is on show is quite poor, so I'll listen on the radio, still have my flask available though.

Don't tell anyone but I am a member if the secret flask society, our club mission statement is to have flasks on every seat, not only at the football but also at places like cinemas, theatres etc. Mr Fenty has been identified as one of our main enemies but we are confident of achieving our goal eventually. Boycotting just gives the wrong impression imo. If the crowds steadily fall due to poor football then Fenty has to act but if there is a mass boycott then Fenty will just string out another excuse about fans bullying etc and detract the attention away from his pal Slade

If the football and results stay the same, then the fan drain will continue of it's own volition anyway.

I don’t blame players, it’s the tactics of the management team that’s the problem. With a different approach these players might actually be able to show us how good they are.
Personally I don’t agree that you should turn up and support the team no matter what. Why? A blip in results is one thing, I except we won’t win every game, but this is different, this is a much bigger issue.

If you are a fan you go to the games surely? Your absence will not make a jot of difference to Fenty's future, which is the real issue. If too many people boycott the games and our results collapse it would be a disaster. We must stay in the league at all costs; the current difficulties will one day be resolved and if we are in the league we will be much more attractive to future investors, say I hopefully.

No one manager or chairman can please everyone, and as others say attendances will naturally reflect results/performances but talks of actual boycotts will be self defeating in my opinion.

Incidentally, on Saturday there were half hearted "Fenty out" chants in the Pontoon - did Fenty get any stick from the upper Smiths?

I understand the sentiment but I didn't pay for 3 season tickets to sit at home. Next season will be a different story if either a. Slade's still here or b. Fenty is still here or c. Matt, Hooper, Woolford, Dixon or Clarke are still here (journeymen robbing a living)

Boycotting hurts the club, which I wouldn't want to do and unless you can get 1000s of people to boycott just wouldn't be effective enough. A well controlled, planned, march and protest would probably more effective, I'm not talking a pitch invasion like Blackpool did, but maybe something similar to what Hull fans did recently. Something to make a statement without hurting the club that the board and management would be unable to avoid.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

To be honest I am old enough/daft enough to go to matches when I like and would not even try to influence anybody else to go or not to go.

Nobody bullies anyone it's entirely up to the individuel. Do I like the way things are going on and off field? No.

Will I abandon my club,no chance.

As a fan the players need our support whether they actually deserve it or not is another matter but it`s the Manager I have a problem supporting. When I look at our squad it isn`t great but it isn`t the worst FFS Slade take the shackles off at home and if we lose 2-3 at least people will come out the ground saying we had a right go.That`s what Grimsby teams do at home and have done for years had a go win, lose or draw and by and large the fans will back that. This mind numbing stale defensive hoofball isn`t working so please try something else or even better leave.

I am not interested in a boycott which will only damage our club. I know JF is the main man and the buck stops there but what has he done in relation to our current run of bad form and poor results. If you want to ditch him what is he accused of. By the way I don't have any connections with him any strong views either way.

Not sure that a boycott of League games is the right thing at the moment. The club will suffer loss of revenue (from non-S/T holders). Admittedly it's probably going down anyway, and I see the point about making one big gesture before it's too late.

But what would be the aim of such a boycott? Change the manager? Change the tactics? Change the team? Change the (non)chairman? In truth any combination of those as different people will have different reasons.*

I think the aim will only be misconstrued (either wilfully or not).

Also will the people who do attend be disagreeing with the aims of the boycott or lack sympathy for it? No.

* personally speaking any change of manager/team selection/tactics will only paper over the cracks

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
