Irrelevant
The clown is here to stay so whats the point?...

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Seems strange talking about a replacement but enough is enough. Shaky or Adkins please.
I really wanted to give Slade time into next season to have a squad that he can call his own but unfortunately I don't have that vision anymore

I'd take a punt on someone like Robbie Stockdale, I know alot on here hate bringing back former players but thats not the point of this, he must have something about him that Sunderland keep putting him in charge every time they sack a manager and I do believe he had a decent set of results when he was caretaker here along side Moore when we sacked Woods.
What I'm mostly looking at is get someone young in, someone who knows the modern game and has a bit of hunger about them. Maybe look at a coach from the likes of Germany.
Hiring the same old managers on the merrygo round that is English football sackings doesn't get clubs anywhere.

Think the next Manager should be God, as Jesus has no chance here. Just remember that Social Media got Trump elected and Brexit moving.
Think that some of the stupid stuff on this site is a candidate to match those regrettable choices. Get off Slade's back and give the management team a chance for Gods sake, or he will have to come down and save everyone.

I have no inside knowledge but I think Slade is on a 3 year contract and is Frmty's mate,
So if Slade has to go Fenty does as well.
Not much chance of that happening I am afraid.

I'm not happy at the moment, but I think we should give it a couple of months with the injured players back in the team (after Christmas?). Osbourne, Asante, Clements might make things very different.

I know Slade football is boring and awful to watch but if we keep sacking managers we will get relegated because of the lack of contuinity in the squad a few of the players left when we got promoted Tait, Amond, Arnold, Nsiala, Nolan, Bogle left last season, the players brought in by Hurst Bignot didn't rate Summerfield, Berret have played most of the season under Slade.
Where Clements sent out on loan suprising he gets in the box and scores goals i know he's not match fit, Asante out on loan understandanble with injury record, goes to show different manager likes different players, you sack Slade and its a another manager wanting his own players which will be free and loans which dosen't attract any manager to the club, Fenty likes Slade because he gets in free transfers he did miracle before getting Bolland, Reddy, Jones x2, Woodhouse, Mildenhall, Toner etc.
Some fans and need to realise where not a big club anymore where League 2 and bottom half League 1 team at best the heady hights of Championship have gone and highly doubt we will grace that league again if so teams like Scunthorpe, Yeovil and Southend only show smaller teams can't cut at that level Sky Sports money means Premier league and Championship have pulled away from League 1 down to National League etc.
The worry i also have is when York sacked Mills they had Nigel Worthington 4 March 2013 - 13 October 2014 Steve Torpey Caretaker Russ Wilcox 15 October 2014 - 26 October 2015 Richard Cresswell Caretaker Jackie McNamara 4 November 2015 - 16 October 2016 Relagated from League 2 Gary Mills 16 October 2016 - 30 September 2017 Relagated from National League Martin Gray 1 October 2017 - Present.
The only option for me is to stick with Slade or risk the lack of contuinity with different managers and before you know it where playing in the National League North in a blink of an eye.

Just having continuity isn't a way of guaranteeing success though. Not that I would advocate their way of doing it at all but Chelsea actually have success from hiring/firing a new manager every 1-2years.

No thanks, yes all 3 are GTFC legends but that only accounts for so much, Mcdermott is currently manager of a team 16th in the National league north which is 2 leagues below us, they are only 4 points above relegation with what is seemingly a very good squad on paper. Disley was a great player but no evidence he's a good assistant manager? And Buckley has managed 1 club in the last 15 years, he's been out of the game too long.

I'm not asking for success, I'm asking to be entertained just a little bit. I'm asking to have wingers who have a bit of pace who try to run at their full backs, I'm asking for a game plan which involves playing a bit of football instead of this percentage over the full back bullshit. As daft as it sounds I'd rather be a couple points worse off than we are but attempt to play decent football.

I think you'd struggle to find any manager who would actively want at least 8 of the players signed by Slade this summer. I suspect that is how we got them.

Slade had a bit of bed luck in the summer , if we got Walker on loan we might be in the top 3 now, BUT We didn't and waited too long to bring anyone else in as all the better strikers had been snapped up, Slade has tried to be tight at the back because we have no efficient strike force, Which has resulted in boring pedestrian football, He is not going anywhere soon so we have to hope he will rectify our shortcomings hopefully in January but mainly in the summer when he can get rid of a few players who are at the end of their contracts So we have to hope we finish mid table at least this season and go for promotion next season, The problem will be if we continue playing the way we are the season ticket sales will be way down next season for 2 reasons, 1. The increase in price 2, Mainly because a lot will see how we play next season before deciding to hand over large amounts of cash to the club . Hopefully we will be playing a lot more attacking game and there will be more happy posts on here. Some signings that make the hair stand up on the back of your neck will persuade a lot to renew their season ticket though.

Next manager should be - someone who fits with a long term vision for the club encompassing everything from playing style to age of signings to length of contracts to youth development. Unfortunately we don't have anyone in charge at the club with any sort of vision whatsoever.
I thought we were on to something with Bignot because at least we were building for the future. When Slade does leave we'll be stuck with a load of his type of player, that's where our downfall started last time and we don't seem to have learnt a bloody thing.

I would suggest that watching some of the players Slade has signed they may find their level there.
Thats a bit silly isnt it. 15th in League 2 and 4 points off a playoff spot. Thats the level we're currently at. No doubt we need a goal scorer but really this whole thread is a massive over reaction.

Why do people talk about how many points we are from a playoff spot, what does that mean, at least 8 teams above us have to get a worse set of results over the rest of the season never mind, the odds of getting through the playoffs which can hinge on one dodgy refeeing display (see Gateshead/Bristol R/Newport etc.

Because, surely over a season the whole idea is to accumulate enough points to get into the playoffs and maybe even the promotion places, but shhh dont tell everyone in case they catch on too! Equally if you re suggesting that its unimportant that we re 4 points off the play offs because that means other teams have to get worse results over the course of a season, then we may as well call the season after one or two games!!!

Fans don't care about that. They want to see some entertainment and a few goals now and again. Not too much to ask is it? I want to know why Slade doesn't play Hooper, Kelly, Matt, Osbourne, DJ etc, basically all of the players he signed when he told us that the play offs were a realistic target. Maybe they are still and we could somehow achieve that but it's soul destroying the way we are going about it. The fans are staying away more and more because there is no buzz about the place and that is a worrying situation. Your post sounds just like Slade- the ends justify the means. It's not so much about the league position, more about how grim it is to be a Town fan right now. That's my gripe.

This must be a post from someone out of touch with reality, have you seen us play,it is not as if the players aren't trying, they lack pace and ability and no amount of coaching can remedy, coupled with the fact we have a manger to whom attacking play is an anathema it provides very little hope for the future. Don't know if you are a regular attender but if you are what are you watching?

Erm, several of the players he has signed as first teamers can't get anywhere near the starting eleven.

So because my opinion differs, i must be out of touch. No. I have been watching a team without an out and out goal scorer because of which there is much more pressure on the defence and midfield and more frustration . My point stands, that to be in the position they are currently in they clearly don't lack pace or ability, if they did we would be bottom of the league. I genuinely think that with a confident on form striker we would be right up there, and the results recently back that up - clean sheets, unbeaten run, lots of draws. It is frustrating, and i hope the clubs profits from last can stretch to attract a striker in january...

What is the point of having a decent striker if they are all in the penalty area defending corners, you are seriously saying we have players with pace. You wonder why I say you out of touch.

Harry Kane would struggle to score goals for us. We've got no pace, no penetration, no width and we create precious little going forward.

Slade has already signed three strikers, Hooper, Matt and Cardwell. Slade cannot decide which one to bring on as sub Hooper or Matt and Cardwell is lucky to even get on the bench. Do you have any confidence that the 4th striker he might sign in January will do the business?

Get a Scotsman in. They've generally done well for us over the years. Robbie Stockdale? Or just give the job to someone who would give a excrement. Maybe Macca or ask Disley to retire and take over. I really don't know. Was gutted we rehired that slime ball mercenary Slade in the first place.

We are all "wishing and a hoping" for something that is not going to happen. Of course we would like Shakespear or the soon to be ex Italian manager but where are we going to get the £4-10million a year to pay for them. We can't even afford to pay Slade and his partner off. I'm afraid we are stuck for a few years and most of our problems are down to one persons pigheadedness-you can make your own mind up who that might be

Do we try get an experienced guy in as Director of Football and go down that route? Then maybe a younger appointment from non-league or something, maybe that's what Bignot was missing.
