Next manager should be - someone who fits with a long term vision for the club encompassing everything from playing style to age of signings to length of contracts to youth development. Unfortunately we don't have anyone in charge at the club with any sort of vision whatsoever.
I thought we were on to something with Bignot because at least we were building for the future. When Slade does leave we'll be stuck with a load of his type of player, that's where our downfall started last time and we don't seem to have learnt a bloody thing.
The first paragraph is so spot on agree with all of that

I would suggest that watching some of the players Slade has signed they may find their level there.
Thats a bit silly isnt it. 15th in League 2 and 4 points off a playoff spot. Thats the level we're currently at. No doubt we need a goal scorer but really this whole thread is a massive over reaction.

Why do people talk about how many points we are from a playoff spot, what does that mean, at least 8 teams above us have to get a worse set of results over the rest of the season never mind, the odds of getting through the playoffs which can hinge on one dodgy refeeing display (see Gateshead/Bristol R/Newport etc.

Because, surely over a season the whole idea is to accumulate enough points to get into the playoffs and maybe even the promotion places, but shhh dont tell everyone in case they catch on too! Equally if you re suggesting that its unimportant that we re 4 points off the play offs because that means other teams have to get worse results over the course of a season, then we may as well call the season after one or two games!!!

Fans don't care about that. They want to see some entertainment and a few goals now and again. Not too much to ask is it? I want to know why Slade doesn't play Hooper, Kelly, Matt, Osbourne, DJ etc, basically all of the players he signed when he told us that the play offs were a realistic target. Maybe they are still and we could somehow achieve that but it's soul destroying the way we are going about it. The fans are staying away more and more because there is no buzz about the place and that is a worrying situation. Your post sounds just like Slade- the ends justify the means. It's not so much about the league position, more about how grim it is to be a Town fan right now. That's my gripe.

This must be a post from someone out of touch with reality, have you seen us play,it is not as if the players aren't trying, they lack pace and ability and no amount of coaching can remedy, coupled with the fact we have a manger to whom attacking play is an anathema it provides very little hope for the future. Don't know if you are a regular attender but if you are what are you watching?

Erm, several of the players he has signed as first teamers can't get anywhere near the starting eleven.

So because my opinion differs, i must be out of touch. No. I have been watching a team without an out and out goal scorer because of which there is much more pressure on the defence and midfield and more frustration . My point stands, that to be in the position they are currently in they clearly don't lack pace or ability, if they did we would be bottom of the league. I genuinely think that with a confident on form striker we would be right up there, and the results recently back that up - clean sheets, unbeaten run, lots of draws. It is frustrating, and i hope the clubs profits from last can stretch to attract a striker in january...
