I think its time to give the lad a rest and try to coach an improvement in his end product. I like the kid and think he would be better from the bench for now.
IMO we should have DJ one side and Tom Bolly on the other.
When I've seen DJ hes been class and I thought Tom was playing well before he (for some reason)dropped off the planet.

To be fair to the lad there's not much end product from quite a few others as well.

Thats very true also arry but i said last night he looks a player who has lost confidence. But only 20 so plenty of time for him to develop. I also dont know why Tom has been frozen out, he's not brilliant but he's bloody persistant and imo would be perfect for saturdays game

Should have been rested last night ready for Saturday. He's a genuine lad, loves the crowd behind him and desperate to impress. Will thrive in an atmosphere like Saturdays and could be the difference.

He certainly has bags of talent on the ball and such a shame he hit the post last night. A goal would do him the world of good.
I've heard from more than one person that he is off in January....

He should have been rested lasted night with DJ starting instead. I think he should start the Lincoln though because of his work rate off the ball and his batting attitude, I think he might thrive in the big game atmosphere.

I don't imagine there would be too many clubs willing to pay money for a young player yet to score a goal and with 1 shot on target in 10 starts. He's only set up one or two goals as well, I believe?
He's certainly got some potential but I struggle to think of his achievements thus far being any sort of a selling point.
Let's hope he stays a bit calmer and puts his next good chance away to get him started for the season.

I've got a feeling that once he scores one he'll get a few in the games that follow. One week it'll just click for him - he was the width of a post away from getting one last night remember! Similarly I reckon there'll be a week that he'll be up against an awful full back and will set a couple up in a game too. It's the hope that kills you.

He was a bit unlucky last night with his effort that thumped against the post only to rebound straight into the keepers arms. In the second half he regularly took the full back on and won several corners. We just don't seem to make them count. I thought a rest might do him good but he lasted the 90 mins well ad don't forget those around him were not playing too well and not making themselves available to receive the ball from him so had to go it alone most of the time. I would like to see more of DJ as well. I heard Tom is carrying an injury but nothing official has been said. On that subject has Shaun Macallister left the country?

We looked best last night when we had him and dj on each wing, with Summerfield finding them with quick balls. Id like to see more of that Saturday, and less hoofs. I don't even care if we don't have much possessiom, but it'd be nice to see some purpose behind the play.

This All this talk about dropping Dembele as if something magical is going to happen on the training ground. A few drills won't make much difference. A bit of support and movement around him on the pitch may help as well as proper service to any one of our players from the back. What about his confidence level if he is dropped? Players are not robots. To prioritise dropping Dembele is prioritising in the wrong areas. How about getting Karleigh Osbourne and DJ in the team on a regular basis, playing Matt and Jones and also Rose and Summerfield every week to form partnerships, that might help. Getting Mills back in at left back is not ideal but might be worth a try too..

What I find totally baffling is the fact we've got 4 defenders who have all played at a higher level, and yet none of them have the slightest bit of composure to pass the ball.

I can only think of the following.. Panic, get rid attitude, and as far away as possible from their area of the pitch Lack of confidence in playing an accurate ball in a tight area due to leg fatigue, hence safety first option Lack of confidence in playing an accurate ball in a tight area due lack of confidence in recipient Lack of ability in playing an accurate ball in a tight area Lack of movement ahead to pick a safe pass Manager's instructions

Sorry, but he wasnt unlucky. He had 3/4 of the goal free and hit the post. It was a poor miss

I can only think of the following..
Lack of confidence in playing an accurate ball in a tight area due lack of confidence in recipient
Lack of movement ahead to pick a safe pass
Mostly these two, I'd have thought. We've not exactly been known for our flowing movement and passing through midfield in recent years and I wouldn't say that we've really got the players to perform well in a passing game as all of them have weaknesses. Obviously the odd panicked clearance as well but then you see that at pretty much every level. Sometimes the best choice is just to hack it clear. Just need to make sure you aren't punting it upfield for the sake of it which is too easy when you're under pressure.

Plenty of empty net showing. Hit it too hard, when all he had to do was roll it in. Probably trying too hard at the moment, but he should have scored.

Agree with those saying that a shot hitting the post is not unlucky. If you hit the post you've missed. By a smaller margin than hitting it wide but still missed the target.

Did you notice how after he scored his first against Cheltenham he ran over to Slade and gave him a big hug.
From watching that on the highlights it looks as though they certainly have a bond between them.

So how does this "option for a 2nd season" work? Surely if he wants away he can just go if his one year deal has expired?
I don't get it.

From what I believe, it's a contract in which only we can activate the extra year and that's contractually binding. It's essentially an insurance policy for us, play well we'll give you an extra year which will stop you leaving for free. Play badly and you're off. It must however be activated before he agrees to go somewhere else. If we've 100% agreed this it's a clever piece of business.

He seems to be a free spirit when he gets the ball, and just goes for it full belt.. Lets hope along the way coaches dont try and knock it out of him, making him do this and that in part of a formation in stead of giving him freedom

I think he was just trying to put it around the keeper with the outside of the boot but scuffed it a bit and luckily it still went in

I'm not clear on the second goal either. I can't work out if it was audacious and highly technical or a jammy miss hit. Great assist from Jones.

Gets lucky with bounces, scuffs and mishits doesnt he. Sometimes you need more luck than skill. Look at Omars first goal at Wembley, great clearing header until it hit the centre half

I agree - the nearer he gets to goal before receiving the ball, the luckier he gets - it seems. Looking forward to seeing him (and the team) on Saturday.

Are people seriously saying that was a lucky goal? He knew exactly what he was doing, the lads confidence is sky high. Skillfull players don't 'think' in their head what they're going to do, soon as you've got it in your locker it just works for you.

Give Paul McCartney a call, sure he's got nothing better in his life than to write a song about a fourth tier footballer.

I'd go with the tune for Tom Jones' Delilah. Got stuck at the first couple of lines and a bit of the last line Si-ri-kiii Dembele Na na, na na, na naa Si-ri-kiii Dembele Na na, na na, na naa ...... ....... ..Siiki Dembele run down the field and score

Did you notice how after he scored his first against Cheltenham he ran over to Slade and gave him a big hug.
From watching that on the highlights it looks as though they certainly have a bond between them.
Reminded me of Toto doing it the other year at BP when he ran over to Hurst.

Spotted?! I listened all the flipping way through. Longest intro ever. Anyway, what I meant to say was 'are you Forza Ivano in disguise?' Great track. This should be on the 'what music are you into thread' on the other board.

Do you watch football with a Bond film soundtrack running through your head? Sky(blue)fall at Coventry. Quantum of Solace (3-1 defeat at Wycombe). Or do you hear Shirley Bassey singing 'Diamond Formation'?

It seems those in charge of Bob Marleys tunes don't like the originals on YouTube, so you get instrumentals and live tracks. I think we've had a few music threads over the years, I always enjoy them.

3 wheels on my wagon
And I'm just rolling along
Them Siriki's - are after me
They looks mad - they looks bad
But I'm singing a happy song
Chorus:
Higgerty haggerty - hoggerty hag
My word - those Sirikis don't half look mad
About a mile up the road - there's a hidden cave
And we can watch those Siriki's - go galloping by
