According to their manager our game is based solely on the long ball.

Sour grapes by their manager.  I believe I also heard him say our second goal was a mishit shot, which it most certainly wasn't, it was placed perfectly past their keeper by Woolford.

Agree, I was right behind him when he scored, a sublime touch.

Yep, 100% intended. Class finish. The defender and the keeper thought he was going to bring it back on to his other foot I think. Love those slo mo goals where you watch it roll in.

Cool finish for the first goal too. May have been scrappy and bundled in but watch the little dink over the goalie to leave the goal gaping.

Well if their game is based on Barcelona type passing football it didn't work did it? Away from home in difficult conditions, in league 2, you need to do what you have to do to win. We did!

To be fair the last time I saw Accrington they reminded me of Barcelona - the fuckers were falling over every 10 seconds!

After watching the highlights it could have easily ended 4 - 1 to us. Dembele was 1 on 1 after a great through ball by Jones, should have hit first time, his first touch denied him the opportunity (more confidence and pragmatic experience, he'll be fantastic). Matt had a great chance after tussling two defenders second half in a similar position as Jackson's goal, he probably should have passed it to Woolford though who had a open net to deal with.

Confidence and more pragmatic decision making, and I think all the doom and gloom will be far behind us!

Largely favourable comments on the Stanley message board although slightly galling that Accrington Stanley see us as lower level fodder!

Credit to Grimsby, they were very good in the first half and solid enough in defence in the second.

Grimsby played pretty well but we did not, though we coulda and shoulda got a draw

I felt Grimsby just battled that little bit harder than us

And this one too...

a word of praise for their fans behind the goal who never stopped singing throught the game getting wet through and probebly turned up more in hope than expectations.
