Notts County are in even more turmoil before our home game against them on the 21st January.

Quote -

An outstanding loan of £1.5m is the major snag in Alan Hardy's takeover bid for Notts County.

The Nottingham businessman was expected to formally complete his buyout of current Magpies owner Ray Trew on Monday and be unveiled as the Magpies' new owner on Tuesday.

Having reached an agreement to buy the club lock, stock and barrel from Trew before Christmas and then exchanging contracts on the deal on New Year's Eve, its completion looked to be a formality.

Hardy even took the decision to sack John Sheridan and put Alan Smith in caretaker charge of Notts – and has also interviewed potential new managers.

He also set lower ticket prices for Saturday's League Two derby clash with Mansfield Town.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

As with any club. There will loyal supporters (just like ours) that are suffering with this.
One minute they have new backers, ex England manager, etc etc.  Next, they are in deep sh1t.
They are the ones I feel sorry for.  As a club, it has been run appallingly, so no sympathy for the fat cats.
But I do sympathise with the genuine fans.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

"The project" ultimately ended badly then, when I was a kid they where always a solid Div2 (championship) side even when living in the shadow of Cloughie's Forest. Shame for the fans really as loyal fan don't deserve that lack of stability.

However football being football they are probably now due an "unlikely win" hopefully not at BP in a couple of weeks time.

Lets not forget that they are the oldest football club in the professional game. It's sad for the true fans that an old institution like this can be in such a state, while some clubs are awash with money. Surely there is enough money in the game to help out clubs in this state. As ever in today's world, it's sink or swim.

Don't disagree with that, but how many times do we have to see the same teams going through this situation of financial difficulty, rescue package, sudden influx of money and new signings and repeat?

Not only is it a form of cheating but each time these clubs enter administration they cut deals to pay so much in the pound to their creditors.  It's just wrong.

I do feel for the genuine fans who 99.99% are probably mortified at what their club has become and how they cheat the system.  I do feel that money isn't filtering down to the clubs beyond the Premier League and those in the parachute payment cycle, but is the problem that money isn't filtering down or that clubs/owners aren't responsible enough with their finances?  If more money filtered down from the Premier League would clubs like Notts County all of a sudden become financially responsible or would they just increase their levels of debt accordingly?

I read an article on Morecambe saying about their dubious owners and fans from numerous other Clubs commented stating they also had problems with owners mostly from overseas.Just how where they allowed to pass this fit and proper owners test it really feels like these are dark days for football especially lower down.Whilst JF might not be perfect he is certainly better than many many others football is a timebomb and it`s going to go up in flames very soon in my opinion.

Not sure how this would work but if every clubs board had a non exec from a fans trust on it then surely that would be a small start. However as there is so much money involved clubs are easy targets for irresponsible wealthy autocrat owners who just see the club as a business opportunity or play thing. I thought the authorities operated a due diligence scheme after all?

The league should be far more stringent than they are at present with who is allowed to own a club and there could and should be some sort of financial and strategic team set up to help clubs in this sort of state. More should be done financially and with management planning to help, instead of this situation where clubs are constantly scrambling to make ends meet.

In football, as in society in general, there is enough money to go round, but those at the top make the rules allowing them to keep most of it to the detriment of others.
