Pearson had spoke to other clubs in the Conference Premier, offering more money.

Must of been Eastleigh, Tranmere, Forest Green, maybe Barrow?

Says Shaun had interest from within our league and also stayed despite offers that would better himself financially. Seemed keen to get talking to Toto again regarding resigning but generally thrilled with today's news!

Under 24 and offered a deal.

No fee if he goes abroad but there will be one if he goes to another English club which MAY put off a potential suitor?

Hurst said a defender been to Blundell Park today, been showing him around!

Spoken to one other player and it was positive.

Tom Miller is the player according to Gimp fans - doe this mean no Mags or Toto??? Apparently he can play RB & CB so maybe just an upgrade on Parslow!

Who knows, but I've read him and Hamza Bencherif are stalling on a contract...

Hurst likes a utility man or two in the squad.

If we signed miller it wouldnt necessarily mean magnay not signing. We released two right backs in walker and bignot and cb in humble. So we would be light in defence anyway

That was my thinking and he seems to like the flexibility of defenders who can play in a couple of positions.

Most encouraging thing about that interview was that he sounds confident that Magnay might stop.

Can someone relay some quotes please or post a link to the actual interview please? I genuinely think Carl will stay - that could be just optimistic thinking though?
Whatever happens today had been a fantastic day for GTFC  and the core of our squad is outstanding. If the worst PH has to do is replace a RB and a ST then we've done pretty well IMO!

It sounded like the club have listened to Magnay's requests and concerns re travel etc and probably done as much as they can. It's now up to Carl. I think he could well sign up again. I think he's been negotiating the best deal he can get with all this car sharing stuff (which is absolutely fair enough), the club have listened, and now it's just a case of whether he wants to stay or not.

He said in a radio interview after Christmas that he hated it abroad. I think Toto will sign, could do worse than spending a year learning alongside Josh, Shaun & Gregor.

Good interview, he's the reason all these guys are re-signing for us, turning down pay rises in some cases. They work with him every day, they believe in him.

Listening to this it sounds like PH has a plan and is absolutely on top of it..............As discussed by many in recent months he appears to be growing into the role of a manager.

He clearly recognises that the energy needs to start now if we are going to win this league and he has really fuelled it with a great weeks business!

I think now Lenny has gone, signing a striker will be easier as it was a well known fact that Hurst loved Lenny. Hurst is a manager who stands by his players and I just hope that doesn't work against him when finalising his squad.

It's clear to see that these players love working for him and we must be favourites for the title after today's announcements?

We benefit from being a "league club" and can attract a better calibre of player than say Eastleigh, or Forest Green. I didn't know where that was until we stumbled across it on our way to Bath in 2011.

They will but he can focus almost entirely on it. Two good signings up front and I really, really fancy us next year. And it's still May.

Best and most stable re-start to the new season - we will all now be able to rest for a while and just concentrate on loads of idle gossip on new strikers to play alongside JPP.

I still haven't totally given up on Ollie Palmer coming back & playing next to JPP as a class pair, and look to a couple of surprise additions to the strike force in due course.

If Toto and Carl both sign, then the squad team intent is definitely there for all to see.

Can't knock LJL for going for a guaranteed 2 year deal - family man now and needs the security - good luck to him !

We now need a scientific fitness coach to keep JPP and Scott Brown fully fit from niggles so they are fit to play in more games next season.

Thanks for that. He sounds far more positive than usual, although maybe he was in the car on the way to his hols and is just demob happy! I increasingly get that same feeling I did with Buckley.not happy with the media, will do things under the radar and on his own terms.knows his own mind and just instinctively knows what players can do what job for him at the right price. If he just had buckles footballing philosophy he'd be the perfect boss!

The thing is Buckley was a striker and Hurst a defender so the teams will never compare.
I agree that Paul Hurst has made big strides and conducts himself in an excellent manner.  I think sometimes we need to alter our tactics and would like us to use the width more rather than going through the middle and this may change now with the exit of Lenny.  Strange thing is if we were as good down the flanks and pulling the ball back to the forwards Ross Hannah would have been the ideal finisher!
That said - am very happy with the last few days and that team spirit will continue.  Well done to Paul Hurst and all at the club.  Buzzing!

Good interview, he has put a fair bit of pressure on Carl there as well saying: if wants to stay he will sign etc.  Also Pearson wasn't offered league football? That surprises me a fair bit as presumed it was for a league club.  But even more delighted he has opted to stay at a 'proper club' like ourselves rather than go to a moneyed club.

Got to agree though with Rob, for all the stick Hurst has got (from me at various points as well) he has built a phenomenal team spirit that has kept players here and that is great news.

Good sensible interview. He has done a good job in getting players to stay. Speaks volumes.
