if it  had been anyone else i would have dismissed it as flag waving but magnay has always been very honest and open. as oldun said gives a very interesting insight on the precarious nature of pro football at this level. his petrol costs will be around £100 per week - shared between 2/3/4 it's manageable but on your own, well that takes a hefty chunk of your nett pay.
shame we haven't got a sponsor who can help out, because it sounds like he would far rather sign for us ,if the figures can be made to add up

This might be a silly thing to say,

BUT

If one is employed in Grimsby why not move to Grimsby,

because he only had a 1 year contract???? why would you spend thousands of pounds in moving expenses or  renting a place when you might have to up and leave in 12 months? these players live in the real world pete; you and i wouldn't do it for the money they're on, so why do you expect them to be different? they're not playing for the love of gy, they're playing to pay the mortgage and feed their kids

As i've pointed out on another thread we have plenty of players travelling down the M62. It's a load of balderdash

Honest interview not sure it's right to speak publicly the old location thing as always been an issue but it seems an easy solution just move closer to your place of work. Some lovely villages between Leeds and Grimsby and surrounding areas.

The one thing about Mags is he plays social media and the media very well. By doing that interview last night he has given us a taste of what it's like making those decisions and all the factors to consider.

Good honest interview.
We should keep our best players whatever it costs.
Come on Fenty do what it takes to get Town out of this league because let's face it you put Town in this crap league so you should get Town out of it. So get your hands in your pockets, you must know the old saying "pay peanuts get monkeys"

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I sort of agree with you if he has only been offered a one year deal,

Carl has more than proved himself and deserves a 2 or 3 year contract,

The prices of property rents are higher in Leeds than Grimsby,

So he would make money renting his house out and cut out all that travelling.
