I'm sure there are quite a few clubs in the VC and FL2 that would give our best players a Two year contract and that will be the difference  im afraid ............... Beware the wounded animal Lincoln City  I fear they are going  excrement or bust for the title

Would like to see a couple of players get two year deals but I don't think you can moan too much at 34-year-old Craig Disley and injury prone JP Pittman getting one year deals.

I think Lincoln are possibly a bit deluded supported by the fact they have signed Liam Hearn.................I would not gamble with my payroll budget like that!

I think Pearson and Magnay are worth more than a straight one year, definitely.

In fairness to PH, im sure its not him who has the say on the length on contracts offered. In fact, I know that for a fact.

PH is only in the position to offer 1 year deals due to our financial position.

But as a club, we should be offering Mags, Pearson, Toto, LJL 2 year deals IMO.

I agree laddy these important players could well fetch us a tidy fee one year deals are ok to the unknown but once proven should be tied a bit further is the club missing a trick here.

Yeah it makes sense when you've got players in their mid twenties who've clearly established themselves as quality players at this level to offer them more than a one year contract. Toto, Pearson, Magnay and potentially LJL, Arnold and Mackreth would fall into this bracket. It worked out well when we got Ryan Bennett to sign a multi year deal before Peterborough plonked a load of money on Fenty's doorstep. I just wonder whether giving Liam Hearn a 3 year deal which he spent the last two years of which injured has scared the club away from offering longer contracts to deserving players this time round?

Don't think the likes of Pearson, Magnay etc wiould demand a fee. Too many Bosmans available every season so no need for clubs at lower levels to pay transfer fees. However the point is they would have been tied to us for longer IF they had signed them.

IF I were in their position I wouldn't have signed a new deal in January, I would have waited and seen what was on offer now. For Magnays and Pearsons they hold the aces, for most others, the clubs rule the roost as the vast majority are easily replaced

If you offer a player a two year deal it will a) cost you more money, b) other players will want the same. We need enough money left over to be able to sign new players. No idea what we have offered these 12 guys but it might all be a similar package.

If Pearson , Mags  , Arnold and LJL all leave it wont be a Huge shock  . Apart from Pearson they are all replaceable . He would be a Huge loss .

Last year we were surprised, after his dodgy start, that Big Mac was not offered a deal Toto signs we are all pretty happy. Agree re Gowling and lets see who arrives before pressing the panic button. Fenty has said for some time he planned to reduce his financial input into the club so maybe a bit of reality is needed plus our best defender joining Barnsley should not be a criticism.

Seeing his best players leave i am sure if Hurst gets an offer from a decent club he will be on his way tough ask to get a side as good as the one at the end of last season especially on a reduced budget.

Whats more amazing in the past we have offered 2 year deals to Joe Colebeck and Paddy as example you should of been on one year deals, i think PH thought that Magnay would stay because of his knees, you can't blame Pearson he given us 4 seasons started off being one of the worst centre backs he was awful at first in the conference. I thought this player won't last long and he proved me wrong and has been a great servent for the club seemed happy here that's why i thought he would stay.

No such thing as loyalty in football this kissing the badge thing is a load of shite the only things that stay loyal are the fans, after watching town for nearly 50 years this much is true.

Feeling a bit negative after the best season we have had down here i hope Hurst can pull a few rabbits out of the hat looks like he might have to.

Looks like the feel good factor inside and outside the club will be surely tested players like Macca especially.

Agree

If they all signed up we would be in a position of not playing one of the 3 centre backs in their best position,

Gowling and Toto would not have weaken the team if Pearson leaves,

BUT

Lets wait and see who we have we might not have any of those 3.

Who would offer PH a deal. Another conference club? Doubt that would appeal

A Football league club? Possibly but never managed at that level and under contract. Why would a lower league club pay compensation when they would have hundreds of 'free' agents to choose.

I think the only way PH becomes a FL manager is by taking us up

I agree we should deal in 1 year contracts but with extensions so we can trigger them and either sell them, get money or keep them playing so we can get promoted.

Will probably depend on what the players' agents are telling them. If the players sign a deal that includes an extension it may also affect the agents fees too.

I don't believe we have only offered straight one-year deals, definitely not for the established players.

I would imagine a lot of the deals offered would be with options of additional years and/or triggers depending on appearances.

For a lot of the players who are in demand, us offering a two/three year contract still won't be enough to compete.    If a we offer a player a two-year deal and a league club can match the length but treble the salary, we've not got a leg to stand on.

It's bloody frustrating and very disappointing but it works both ways.  We've benefited in the past when we picked up Pearson and McKeown under these circumstances.  No doubt we'll benefit in the future from it too.

I know that we have offered at least 3 of last season's squad 2-year contracts this time.
