If your going A46 don't forget to wave at the Gimps on the way.

No trains, only one route by car now, at this rate we will we have to travel in a fleet of trawlers up the Thames to Wembley.

If nearly 80000 people made it to OT in 1939 for the FA Cup semi when there were no motorways, hardly anyone owned a car, and bikes had no gears, it shouldn't be a problem

I'm guessing coaches will go A46 too? I can see a rather long traffic jam on the A46, at least we can all get out and party on the way

There was a bloody good train network in those days so you didn't need a car

How about A16 to Louth then A153 to Grantham, you can join A1 there. Usually takes me just over 1 1/2 hours. Its just over 2 hours on to Wembley then.

Where is it closed from, Immingham to Killingholme?

Shouldn't take that much extra time should it?

We have a good train network now but the companies that use it aren't so good!

Good call.

I'll still be going A46/A1 as originally planned though.

A16, A153, A16, A1.

Then there is likely to be a 90 minute delay in London before we are straight on for League 2.

Fair point!

But it was better in those days. Two different lines from Grimsby with direct lines to London. First class mail could arrive same day! Loads of branch lines serving villages.

Good move IMO, it would only take an accident on the A46 to cause carnage if the a180 was closed too
