I'll be at a wedding in the US, so will be going to the barber's for a shave in the morning followed by brunch, so hopefully will be having a double celebration by getting stuck into the open bar later that night.

I was lucky enough to be taught at school and coached football by JT, but by jove (as he used to say!) he doesn't half put you through the ringer on the commentary.  This has been the case for 25 years!

I can not listen to him either Gary,

I just keep giving the teletext a look,

Then as soon as we are winning,

I do not look again until the final whistle,

I love JT's commentary and all it's quirks!! They've had some right wooden tops on Hullberside when he's been away, most of whom help me into a coma.
Surely the aim of a commentator is to have you on the edge of your seat in a pool of sweat? The other thing is that he's one of us and wants Town to win just like we do. I also like having a biased commentator!

I agree he is a fan,

BUT

He makes me feel every time  time the other side get near our box  they are going to score,

Its difference when I am at the game, I feel our defence will stop almost everything,

Smart move Gary. You can get in her good books so when it comes to you wanting to go up to the Aldershot game for the title decider she'll owe you.

If you have access to Player just sign into the oppositions site and listen to their commentary instead of JT's ...or their local radio stations on line commentary.
I have done that in the past and had both running simultaenously, while JT's having kittens in one ear about defending their commentary is describing how poor they look going forward..

Best combo is JT/Buckley.

JT "Oooh, that looks nasty, it was very late, could be a red here..."
Buckley "Didn't see anything myself John, just two professionals competing for the ball.."
Ref gives a free kick and no cards.

JT "And with 5 minutes left Towns 3-0 lead looks in danger here, the opposition breaking forward at regular intervals and Towns rearguard looking more and more nervy..."
Buckley "If this opposition get just one goal back I'll be gobsmacked Mr Tondeur, they've passed it about nicely in the middle third but I've seen nothing from them to suggest a goal even if we play until next week."
Town hold out for a 3-0 win.

"Half away by Pearson... the ball's back into the box, Magnay half away..."

It never, ever feels comfortable listening to him, even when we're 3-0 up with just minutes remaining! But it all adds to the sense of theatre - the good moments wouldn't feel so good if we're not made to feel the pain of the bad moments.

All the pain that comes from listening to JT as Town defend a slender lead in injury time turns into ecstasy when the final whistle goes!

Love Bill Brewster in his No 2 spot, always spot on with match commentary and analysis.

Just wish Buckley would take time to read a programme and name the Grimsby players instead of.... the lad at 10, or the one on the right / left wing??

She is a town fan too... and sadly my last game this season will be Alfreton...  I have a gig in Yeovil on the 18th... and one in south London on the final day of the season....  good grief...  it could be one helluva gig if Town do the business....

should it be the play off route... I'm gigging in Spain that week so will miss that too... so it has to be as Champions  !!!

What sort of music do you play Gary? Where in Sarf London is your gig? If for any reason me and the lad can't make it up for the Aldershot game we might make it there.

He sometimes forgets it's radio & not TV. He be rambling on about something then suddenly break off... "here's a chance, he shoots, it's half cleared, back in another shot!!!" Don't know which end you idiot, is it Town or not?

Another one is "Town are kicking right to left in the first half". We can't see it on the radio.

Isn't that basic radio commentary, going back to ye olde times? So the listener can picture it in their mind? Back to square one and all that.

There were a lot of profanities in this house when he wrongly told us that Alfreton had scored. Luckily it didn't matter in tthe end!

Glad someone else noticed that. I usually think I've missed something, distracted by something else going on in the house or that I'm reading.

I know what you mean JT always makes it sound like we are the worst team in the world and about to concede at any minute - he never really has much positive to say! Sadly he is all I get generally unless we happen to be on BT sport! UTM

Its hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them!
Brisbane - beautiful one day and perfect the next! UTM!!!

Would be nice to see another town fan in Yeovil. It's a good place to be with the glovers in freefall and with a bit of luck and good fortune we'll be playing at Huish next season.Where in Yeovil are you playing not Westlands is it ? have a safe trip down.
