Now we find ourselves in a position to be fair where we could win this division and to the same front miss out on the play offs because the teams behind us did better today than those in front. I think it would be a good time for the club to do straight £10 an adult to get people in. Can't speak for today but we are doing this run and still not tearing up trees so I think just on the run in decent crowds at BP could be all the difference. I would like now also to hear nothing on the new ground and everything concentrated on the pitch at least till the end of the season. Because till May that is really all that matters.

I kind of agree but do you not think that the talk of a new ground helps towards a positive attitude for everyone at the club? I reckon if I was at a club that has that kind of future vision I would want to work hard and achieve things and stay there. But yeah we need to pack the park and get people through the gates with cheaper tickets now and not a few games before the end of the season

Talking of big attendances, Alfreton on Easter Monday could be a bit nutty if we are in this position still. We'll take bloody loads.

Exactly...in fact...the theory is...the better we are doing the bigger the attraction is ....so......actually put the prices up by £2 a game across the board...including a levy on S.T holders.....that should soon have us down to playing in front of our preffered 500 -1000 supporters and rolling the results in. P.S That was a joke John if you are reading.

The ground thing does seem to have grabbed peoples imagination but when you look at the OS it appears to have taken over. We know its in the pipeline, we have probably all signed the petition etc. Now it should be something that is worthy of updates when updates are available. Lets give us more reasons to be cheerful than a shiny new ground. We need a football league place to put in it. I hear what people are saying about playing poorly in front of bigger crowds, I just can't help but feel it will finally be a motivation for this lot to get over the line. I don't think the crowds are the thing, we just sometimes really play not very well. I think it may be coincidence.

Unfortunatly I'll be working Easter Monday, (double time, lieu day and so on hard to turn down) but the 1st time we played Alfreton we took loads and it was crazy with people still trying to get in 15 mins into the match, not the best set up for dealing with large numbers.

I think our disappointing home form is behind us now,
The players believe and the fans believe we can do this,
So its home wins all the way to the end of the season.

I think this also it's alright having a big gate but the noise levels and backing as to be there I have no doubt the recent themed away days as helped bond the players and fans together. We now need this atmosphere at BP and I think a lot of people are now beginning to think this may be on.

If we do start getting bigger crowds at BP I hope people don't come expecting Town to take the opposition apart. So many teams come to BP with the aim of getting a draw and frustrate the team and the crowd. Our last two home games were good examples of this and despite Town not looking convincing, they still took the maximum points from the games. Even Bristol Rovers have got to the top of table by winning scrappy games by the odd goal, they haven't exactly been tearing teams apart. It's important to keep the atmosphere positive and while fans have the right to let their frustrations be known, it doesn't mean they have to.

We have 4 home games left,
Eastleigh will come to win,
Wrexham and Gateshead will not park the bus,
Aldershot the last game of the season ( we hope ) will give it a good go,
So 4 big attendances and 4 wins I hope.

With their games in hand, Wrexham could put themselves into play off contention if they string a decent winning streak.
I think Gateshead could realistically be outside the play offs by then, Aldershot are safe from relegation and will have nothing to play for. Probably the most challenging game of the lot!

Absolutely spot on. Just get down there and be positive. It's not the larger gates that effect the players (cup runs for instance) it's the moaning and groaning that does it. I can't believe what's shouted sometimes at the players and at Paul hurst from the upper Findus. If we'd payed millions for them I'd understand. So give them encouragement!!!

Playing in front of a big crowd is all about mind set. If the players believe that there are 5,000 there to support them we will be fine. Its when the players don't think they are there to support them, that's the issue. Because I could imagine a big crowd could become very intimidating if fans start getting on the players back etc. I'm not sure how you change that mentality of the crowd? It seems that some of the of the crowd are fixated on the great town teams/players of the past rather than focusing on the current batch of players now. You don't forget the past, but you concentrate on the here and now. What does that mean? lets get behind the lads and get out of this league once and for all. UTM.

I seem to remember years ago, going back a long way, big occasions seemed to adversely affect Town. Not because of negativity in the crowd (that seems relatively recent).
We'd get through difficult games and win, often against the odds, but then seem to fail at the next big test when really big crowds turned up. Maybe it was/is the pressure of expectations. It simply got/gets to players no matter how positive the crowd.
Or maybe the crowd had nothing to do with it and the odds were we would get beat sooner or later. Like, that thing you're looking for always being in the last place you look, because you stop looking after that.

Even the most critical moaner and shouter at home games is an ardent supporter of the team IMO, if not why would he/she bother to go its not as though its cheap entertainment.
They care as much as everyone else but show it in a different way, you know the way you scold a child as well as encourage him because you are proud of him and want him to do succeed, obviously it would be nice for the players to not hear the moans and groans but( shouting abuse apart) its part of watching football

If we need to win the last game of the season to get back into the football league, The 50 or so Aldershot fans will be in the corner, Leaving the 8,000 Town fans singing and chanting all around the ground, It's going to be great, Just got to get in that position now.

And child psychologists all agree it's a dismal and counterproductive way to treat children. It doesn't work. It's not actually motivating or encouraging. The same could surely be applied to Blundell Park.

Yep - agree. And there's plenty for those psychologists to study at BP: a lot of dummies getting spat out when we don't sweep the opposition away 10 - 0 every time. Anyway - the time is nigh for a mass love-in. UTmfM

Is the safe standing thing any closer? I really believe to get an atmosphere at home those who want to sing/ bang drum must be able to be together. I think the Osmond is perfect unreserved seats (ST holders can exchange if wanted) generate the noise. Aldershot, Gateshead and Eastleigh will not bring many so can be put in corner.

Just seen on Twitter that a safe standing 'sample' will be on display on Saturday between the Lower Findus & Pontoon. No idea if any progress has been made about having it installed
