When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

What a complete deleted expletive. I guess the telegraph have to show both sides but this is bizarre. It was never a place of historical importance before was it?

It's only a letter to the paper.

Ratty out of Wind in the Willows is a Water Vole.

Have you ever seen anyone resembling him around the site?

I'd imagine Mr. Hicks must have campaigned vigorously against the building of the Peaks Parkway road 20-odd years ago as well? After all, constructing a bloody big road through that area can't have been great for the water voles, kestrels, finches et al?

Has he asked the voles what they think? Maybe they'd welcome a new stadium?

If I was going to write an opinion piece that might stand to upset several thousand football fans, not sure I'd want them to print my home address at the bottom of the article!

We could arrange a testimonial game against Port Vole.

These voles might NOT have been there since the Ice Age.  They could have moved in recently taking advantage of the EC policy on open country borders.  They might even be illegal (immigrant) voles and only have limited rights of abode or access.  Voila! or (VOLa).

Maybe that's a tactic, write an infuriatingly stupid article and then wait for the hate mail and threats to come in, then tell the paper about your awful treatment by evil grimsby fans and suddenly the anti stadium campaigners are given oxygen

What a stupid comment to make! Every single housing development in Grimsby for the last 100 years or more has been on land that supported wildlife at one time or another. All towns and cities expand , it's called progress FFS. The Willows , Laceby Acres, Wybers Wood and The Springfield road development around The Seven Seas are just a few that spring to mind that have been built in the last 50 years within my memory. I bet there are many people who remember walking these areas and seeing all the wildlife that this " plank " mentions. I remember walking around The Willows and Wybers long before the housing came. All the farmland between Grimsby and Great Coates , which is a huge industrial estate was a favourite area of mine for wildlife. Whether we get anew ground there or not one thing is for sure - the area in question will be developed.

The Future is Black & White.

Whoever he is the two mentioned species are not two great a problem, but the newt is protected by European, legislation, we developed a site ten years ago, with newts, what a pain in the bottom the little blighters are, had to bring a specialist company in to erect a fencing system, and lost one plot to the little blighters, best part of 100k, the water vole is also protected, but to a lesser degree, good job he didn't find , oh I better keep that one quiet.. Couple of hundred grand to a development this size is nothing, he'll after try harder. UTM

Are we talking about councillors, objectors, voles or all three

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

That's not big foot - it's probably Sutton Mariner who takes size 14 or 15 shoes.  Well he is extremely tall.

If we're going to kill them all, then we should at least eat them too.  Who knows it could put us on the culinary map for something other than fish.
