Damn, I just happen to be in a little picturesque village called Plockton in The Scottish Highlands on that date. Really wanted to go to Dover too. A bit far to go from there!

Considering it's 7 hours on the train just to get to Edinburgh from there,. I'd have to leave on the Sunday to get there!

By the Thursday at the latest anyway. That's the day of my brother's birthday which is why we are away for the week.

Was hoping to go to this from London, but just checking train fares looks like the last train is at 10:10 which seems very tight, don't want to pay the money then leave early.  If there is anyone on here is planning to drive from London and could offer me a lift could you PM me, would be happy to meet you and split petrol costs.

Plockton is wonderful though, and so many fabulous places to visit within reach too. You're far better off there than watching Grimsby a Town anywhere IMO.

It certainly is. I found the place by accident 3 years ago and it's now become my favourite place in the whole of the UK. Try to get up there for a week twice a year now although this time we're only staying 4 nights there. 1 night in Edinburgh on the way up and then 1 night in Inverness and 1 night in Stirling on the way back.

Mouth's already watering at the thought of the seafood platter at The Plockton Inn where we're staying.

Yeah, recently voted the 2nd most picturesque village in the UK. I reckon everyone should visit Plockton at least once,
