Great to see young's sponsoring the Mariners again. The Grimsby-based giant has taken its sponsorship of the Mariners into a 12th year by announcing a new deal for the upcoming 2015/2016 season, well done to them for not jumping ship when the club is at a low point in its history.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Hopefully this is at the same or higher level of money. If so good news.

In one sense, I can't see Youngs abandoning us because we're still in the Conference*. It's about more than immediate exposure. In fact it might align with their "brand values" very well.

* that's not to say I'd take it for granted.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Indeed I think it ties in with their being a firm that values local communities and improves their image that way.  Personally think they are great sponsors for us, am incredibly proud that our sponsor tie in neatly to the history of our club and hope it continues for many years to come.  I certainly thank Youngs for sticking with us though and hopefully they can stick with us in the future when we are league team once more.

Youngs seem to be really quite proud to be from Grimsby (inasmuch as their PR department make it seem that way of course) and I return the favour by only ever buying Youngs fishfingers

Didn't we get the whole 3 years money for only one year of having the name on the shirt, or was it just a really good amount per year?

Yeah I think we got the full 3 years paid upfront (which was used wisely to sign Disco Des and Marcel Cas etc)

That's how I remember it anyway, but my memory does tend to start editing things after a while!
