Looking through respective fixtures, I still give us a chance of the title. Yes, yesterday was a disappointment but wins against the top 2 on the next two Saturdays would make the league table look a lot different. I'm sure if we'd held on for a point yesterday, we wouldn't be saying it was over, would we?

Utter tosh I'm afraid, yesterdays performance showed exactly why it is over and the playoff lottery beckons.

Good to see you have been taking the positivity pills mate,

I think it will very difficult to win the title now ,

BUT

Not impossible,

We need to go on a good run with the others dropping a few points.

It isn't over until we mathematically can't do it. It is better for us to go all out to win it and generate some momentum towards the end of the season should we have to achieve promotion via the play offs. Important to get a win next Saturday to get back on the horse.

Course it's not over, our run-in is not that hard even if we don't pick up maximum points in the next two games we could still do it

We have consistently failed to close the gap on Barnet. We are as far behind them now as we have ever been and there is less games to go.

Every week we have "if we do this and beat them and they lose to them and we win our games in hand, we can still do it". All ifs and buts. Expecting Hurst to "go for it" aint gonna happen. He's already talking about the play offs, just as he did this time last year and the year before. Unless and until he sorts out our lack of goals, we will always be a play off side at best.

Our form over the season would say we are playoffs at best but I would like to think there are enough games to go and teams at the top still to play each other to give us a chance.
I have seen every game this season and I can honestly say every team has looked average with no team standing out as a run away favourites. Lots of twists and turns yet to come  till the season end.

This is the point. If the team that turned up against Barnet at home turns up on a regular basis, then there is no reason why we can't go on a run.

But that's the whole point, that sort of team performance is not the norm. You can count on one hand the number of really good performances this season.

The rest have been distinctly average even many of the wins, take the recent away wins, Macclesfield, Nuneaton for examples good wins but poor quality performances.

This is the poorest the league has been since we came down IMO, with very average teams and we still look no better than the last 2 seasons.

He effectively talked about play off's before we kicked a ball this season, telling all that there were 3 or 4 better teams in the division.

And it has been so all season to the present point. We thought ourselves into that position to an extent. We'll see. As I've said many times before, IMO we have to be promoted this season, or we will face some real difficulties.

If all 11 players selected kept playing consistently, then they wouldn't be playing for Town. it's a fact of life down here.

What Hurst needs is the fortune teller's luck to know which of them are in form and on that run of consistency.

Look at Saturday - Hannah could have had 2 in 10 minutes , but couldn't take his chances - they also make 2 rare schoolboy defensive blunders, both of which result in goals for opponents = 2-1 defeat in what seemed a full on end to end game on the radio.

My stepson and family, who went, all agreed that we gave it a good go but came up short in the end !

Stop kidding yourselves, we are not as consistent as Barnet but can match the others who are like us good one match and average to poor the next, we will make the playoffs but have no hope of pegging back Barnet who have shown that they are the best of a  mediocre bunch and we with our resources and players should have done better against the midtable to lower teams

I must say I have not seen a really stand out opposition team in any game at Blundell Park this season. In previous years there has been one or two each season. This is why it is a bit frustrating at times because we know we can beat anybody, but for whatever reason we have failed to do so on too many occasions. We have had plenty of opportunities to climb to the top of the pile but I fear it is too late now.

Saw a league table the other day after virtually everyone had played 16 games. We were very much mid-table. We have taken many more points that most since then but we still look a little bit short of top spot.

It is very unlikely, but I dont think any fan expects the team to give up on winning it, and on that basis I havent given up either. Highly unlikely i know but there is still a chance (as there is that we fall away altogether).

What happens if you take Akinde out of the equation, does anyone think Barnet would be capable of automatic promotion then?

I would say it's a lot more difficult to find a striker  who has scored 25 goals at this stage of the season compared to 13 goals I guess...

We are lacking that Hearn / Elding partnership, we would probally be top then.

Been a while since Lenny scored. Apart from his pen against Barnet, can't remember the last one from open play. We just don't score enough, full stop.
