As an old time xbox gamer I'm thinking I might treat myself to the One. I still have my 360 and I love adventure style games (Skyrim) as well as thinking/slower first person games (Bioshock, Half Life)
Anything there for me? Or shall I possibly think of PlayStation 4? Never had a PlayStation,  always xbox, Amiga and Pc before.
Thoughts please!

I'd really recommend a PC.

With a PC you can still use an xbox controller and hook it up to a large screen via hdmi, but you have the steam web store, humble bundle website and all the cd key sites. I very rarely spend more than £3.75 for a game. I wait a little longer but mostly within a year you can get some of the best games dirt cheap.

Watch a couple of youtube channels to get up to date on games and hardware:

Some excellent game reviews, mostly PC but some console:

Some good game playthrough

Games I'd like on my PC if you're buying: Alien Isolation and Dying Light

There is always a debate amongst gamers to which format is the best.

The PC is best for graphics and cost of games (if you don't mind waiting some time) and PS4 which I have and Xbox One are very much the same.  There is very little in it between the major consoles, and biggest advantage of the PC is that you can play the majority if not all the games you buy were the consoles are limited to which gen you have, which is very poor after you have spent a small fortune on some of those games.

The biggest downside to the PC is cost of updating cards/processors/boards/cooling system and fixing problems inherent with PC's, and knowledge of fixing a PC.

A friend has an all singing and dancing PC but has spent over the years more than I have updating my consoles from mega drive through to PS4.

Have you thought about getting a head of the game and try VR gaming

Thanks for the input guys. You know I'm rather long in the tooth my first computer being the ZX Spectrum! My favouritre platform was the Commodore Amiga 1200 which was an amazing bit of kit at the time. Of course I then had to move on the PC where I spent a fortune on continual upgrades!
These days I just want to pop it on for a couple of hours at the weekends so I'm really quite happy with my 360. Just had a few bob burning in my pocket and was thinking of upgrading to the ONE. I did notice that there is not yet an updated Tiger Woods type golf game though which really would have tipped the scales for me!
A Skyrim type game would really float my boat or even something like Dishonoured which I really liked too.

I'm currently playing Destiny on PS4 and it is a very good game, although at times like most games today a tad repetitive.

VR will be the way forward and the games are getting better and better, love it they did a Red Dwarf, Gunmen of the Apocalypse

15 minutes in.

Destiny is an amazing game if you put the time into it. There is a PGA Tour golf game scheduled for this year, not got the Tiger brand anymore but is the same game. The Elder Scrolls Online is due out soon too, if you were into Skyrim.

I love PC gaming myself, done so since around 1998.  I usually buy cheap games on Steam around June and December time, plus deals around the net any time of the year.

The only thing that's missing on the PC is a lot of sports games, boxing etc, I used the Xbox just to play Fight Night.  I just game on PC now.

Dragon Age: Inquisition might be worth trying. Very high scoring reviews. It's the third in the series though.
