Hear you go Paul , I know its boring and the fans will moan but here is your ticket out this league

               Macca
Magnay Pearson  Toto  New Player
              Brown
Clay    Paddy Mac Disley
       Neilson
LJL ( or any Goal scorer with good hold up play )

You had it right a few weeks ago FFS so why did you change it ? Did the fans sway you or did pressure come from else where ? 442 is too predictable for this league . Just do it and I guarantee  you will achieve yours and our dream

That is revolutionary, are we not going to bother with eleven players or are you that confident?

By playing Nielson behind LJL then you're going to play with no wingers ?

Don't think I've ever seen anyone propose such a narrow team.

For me it would be;

                                                 Macca

Magnay.                    Toto.                    Pearson.                 Thomas.

Mackreth.      Disley (pref Brown when fully fit).          Clay.     Arnold.

                                                   Neilson (free role)

                                                     LJL.

Probably about right, which begs the question why was he signed permanently, not long before LJL, who the team seems to have been built around.

Did the team change its way of playing between December 2012 (when Hannah's loan finished and when he was good) and January 2013 (when he signed permanently and since has largely been disappointing)?

Obviously we signed LJL as Kingston said, but he only started 6 games in his first half season.

Easy. Starting line up as Gateshead away, Paddy, Brown and Clay as a tight three in midfield.

Based on Aswads current form, might even try Winfarrah instead, other than that as at Gateshead.

You do realise he is the one with number 3  on his back and not number 5.    Thomas and Arnold have been equally idle far to long, time for a change on the left.

Aswad didn't play at Gateshead so you're sort of right, although we may struggle with Boyce

The strange thing is have we even played the 4-3-1-2 formation (with Brown, Clay, Paddy being the 3, Neilson being in the free role and Lenny and Pit upfront)  with the same team (barring Boyce) since Aldershot away?

Lazy, and scared to put a tackle in half the time. The amount of times he takes a leisurely jog back into position as the opposition break is getting ridiculous.

Fouled or not prior to the Macc winner he was guilty of jogging back into position rather than busting a gut. Check it out on the highlights.

He's got a questionable attitude (notice how many spats he gets into with his teammates) and poor technique but I think he's generally a decent left back, if a bit error prone. He's great going forward and his crossing is generally superb - if only we had the strikers to profit. Left back is not really where our problems lie for me.

Hannah doesn't do anything for the team. Doesn't hold the ball up, win it in the air, create chances, he's caught offside far too often because he's far to slow, very light weight and his finishing is no better than Lenny's. Why does everyone think Lenny is hopeless and Hannah a world beater. Lenny is better at everything compared to Hannah.

Like what was said , the team isn't  built , designed or played to Hannahs   style . Opinions . Not his job to hold ball , got to be given ball to create , too quick for our pedestrian midfield .

He's  not been bad , just think he's  being asked to do too much . He has looked knackered  recently  , wondering  if he is carrying an injury or still feeling the effects of his broken bone earlier this season.

First and foremost, Thomas needs to remember he's a defender. Four goals from the past 2 games have been conceded down our left when he's been caught upfield. We shouldn't be conceding that many from defenders badly out of position in ten games!

This isn't to say he can't help the attack either but he shouldn't think he's got to go on overlapping runs every time we get the ball.

Doc Tower is right , team not built for Hannah but could be, if the ball from midfield was played when Hannah wants it rather than the delay in passing , i would see Hannah as our leading scorer or near abouts. When he was scoring before we used his speed and quick thinking , on his return it changed. I dont say he will be our saviour but give him a chance. Playing to LJL strengths is definately  not working so use Hannah  better.

Help for Hurst ....simpler idea which may may assist him during him home games...have Doig sat in the upper tier of the Findus relaying information to him about the shape of our team and the shape of the opposition. You can see fvck all from the sidelines of the wider picture and when you are small as Hurst and stood below pitch level you see even less.

He's the quickest player we have according to what we hear , give him the chance of an extended run with Neilson , who was used with great effect on his arrival . Far more effective and exciting than lumping the ball into the oppositions box hoping we get lucky .

According to what we hear? From who exactly?

And he had a long run in the team last season with Neilson in it as well and it didn't work then so I don't see why it would now.

According to what we hear? From who exactly?

And he had a long run in the team last season with Neilson in it as well and it didn't work then so I don't see why it would now.

And another option would be what .  What we are watching now isn't  setting the world alight . People are bored with what we are given to watch , there's  enough posts on here reflecting the fact .  Emisar  worded it well .

Either play the team (excluding Boyce) that destroyed Alfreton and Gateshead, or play 4-2-3-1 with the 3 consisting of Mackreth on the right, Neilson in the middle and Arnold or Pittman on the left, because a lot of the goals would come from this advanced 3 therefore less pressure on the lone striker. I appreciate building the team around a goalscorer is the best idea but I don't think Hannah is a good enough goalscorer, I've seen him miss far too many chances and only score penalties to convince me that he's got enough of a cutting edge as Hearn did to be the striker to lead us to promotion.

I've thought this for some time. I know we record every game from up there and PH can appraise the game afterwards but that is no good during the game. You can see a different perspective from up there and the " live " view is a lot different to the " recorded " view. I seem to recall when The Dynamic Duo first came here they said they would do something on these lines but nothing was done.

Probably when he was banned from the touchline!

I'm in agreement that having an observer up in the Upper Findus is a good idea. You can see so much more of the game there than down by the touchline. Even if the manager isn't up there himself, surely a trusted member of the coaching staff could spend the first half watching with an elevated view and report as required?

He's the quickest player we have according to what we hear , give him the chance of an extended run with Neilson , who was used with great effect on his arrival . Far more effective and exciting than lumping the ball into the oppositions box hoping we get lucky .

Exactly. Remember when they first arrived on loan.

Like what was said , the team isn't  built , designed or played to Hannahs   style . Opinions . Not his job to hold ball , got to be given ball to create , too quick for our pedestrian midfield .

Which possibly accounts for him being offside so often. Mind you he does need to learn to wait a bit for that pass!

Did the team change its way of playing between December 2012 (when Hannah's loan finished and when he was good) and January 2013 (when he signed permanently and since has largely been disappointing)?

Obviously we signed LJL as Kingston said, but he only started 6 games in his first half season.

Hannah definitely dropped out of contention as a first choice striker. I wouldn't say the way of playing changed over night but it certainly evolved over the next several months. The team was certainly disrupted (in my view unnecessarily), added to fixture congestion etc, all momentum for automatic promotion was lost.

Hannah started 8 out of the first 10 league games on his return and scored 0 goals. The only reason I can see for this is Neilson leaving (bloody Luton!) although  as Tom said they've played together since with nowhere near the same impact.

I've come to the conclusion that it's Brodie's fault for being 'in the building'!

Forgot about him going to Luton , your right , system changed or the mysterious plan B . Just wonder how much disruption one player can do to a team if badley managed . Love him or hate him Brodie is a pain in the butt ,  we will just never know .  Southport grrrrrrrr!

Hannah needs both Aswad and Neilsen both fast, fit and on form down the left wing to be effective - considering the amount of chances being marked up on stat boards, we must have a really poor chances to goals ratio this season, with set plays well down.

Hurst needs to find someone who can kick a dead ball past the first defender or it's a waste sending the centre halves up for nothing !

I would have expected Pearson to have at least 5 or 6 goals by now, but deliveries are rubbish !

I wonder what the odds are of us failing to sign a single player who is reliably good at taking corners and set pieces over the past several seasons? You'd have thought that the law of averages alone should make it likely we would sign one or two with some ability in this area during this period!

Back in the day, I remember laughing when Glenn Hoddle said he picked Andy Hinchcliffe for England pretty much on the basis that he was good at taking corners. With what we've seen in recent years, this doesn't seem such a bad bet now!

Players arrive here and in pre-season/early games appear to have a decent delivery on them from set-pieces.  Brown this season, Kerr the season before.  I can even remember practically drooling when Rob Eagle whipped in dangerous corner after dangerous corner against Scunny in pre-season four years ago, how Kempson didn't have a hat-trick of headers that day I don't know.

Soon enough though the standards slip and our corners either fail to clear the first man or are bread and butter for even the most average goalkeeper.   On the rare occasion we do get a decent delivery in, it's met by a fifty-pence-piece header and ends up in the stand.

Do we just not bother to practice corners in training?

No..they are too busy making stupid fking videos.....when players finish here they could probably gain equity cards and start acting careers.

Part of the problem is the players not attacking the ball properly either, some of the only decent balls whipped in recently have just flown past with all the players stood near the penalty spot waiting for each other to attack it.

Exactly! Same with crosses.  Four players go to near post, ball goes to back post.
