I support the Mariners through and through and therefore support Paul Hurst as he is our manager, however, having heard his interview on Humberside tonight I feel he is bang out of order. I personally do not boo the team but if others want to then that is their right particularly after today's performance. I don't see that it makes any difference if we are second or second from bottom it was still a very poor performance which some people thought was worthy of booing. HURST should listen to what MAGNAY had to say who apologised to the fans for a shambolic performance.
I have also noted that HURST never credits our fantastic away support unless prompted by Tondeur. It's time he started reflecting on who really are the important people at this great club. I am seriously contemplating NOT going on Tuesday as my own personal protest due to a complete lack of support / understanding by the manager of the fans even if a MINORITY do upset him. UTM

Agree in part with you but have to say I've heard Hurst many a time praise the town fans to be fair.

We are on a good run no doubt but we struggle to score. Today we were poor and I was frustrated by Pell ahead of Clay. Hurst was like a baby with his comment. He needs to whine less. We play like an away team at home. I did not enjoy the game today. I will always support and Hurst is doing well but his whining is not endearing

Hurst gets far too defensive when interviewed a bit like his style of play. he needs to accept that supporters have the right to boo a poor performance and that he has questions to answer sometimes after a game. If his teamtalks and management style are like his interview style then I'm afraid he's not going to progress much as a manager. He aint that inspirational. We have been doing ok lately but our performances need to improve, and we do need a goalscorer

Hurst has often come off as defensive in his interviews, can't recall him admitting mistakes or going into detail about where the teams need to improve either, still don't know what to make of him most of the time after all these years

He managed to persuade most of our better players to stay in the summer so the players obviously like him and want to play for him. That matters far more to me than what he says in interviews.

I would guess getting a bigger wage than most clubs would prepare to pay plays a large part in persuading players to stay at our club, well done Fenty

Don't surprise me Robb.Thats the impression I always had of him.Nice person and listening to some of the other managers I would tempted to play for Hurst if I was good enough. Sometimes though I question whether we would be in a worse position or better with Scott still at the helm. My judgement probably thinks the former. Hurst is the nice guy who doesn't rub players up the wrong way.Scott on the other hand may have had the passion but I feel sometimes his over enthusiasm may have got in the way of other things.Eg pushing players to much all the time and treating them like robots. Players are humans and need to be treated as such and not automated machines who perform week in week out.

It doesn't, but also clapping them off at the end if they lost seems to be bad also, according to some guy who slammed me for it yesterday!

Nothing personal Ronnie but how anyone can clap the team off after a performance like that deserves slamming. I hate hearing boos ring round and i noticed Aswad having verbals with some random in the ponny who told him to " stick to playing on the right " . We all have the right to do what we want but i would honestly like to hear what makes you applaud the lads off after that? I'm not saying it's right or wrong it's obvs each to their own but i am intrigued matey.

It focuses their minds as to the overall opinion of the paid audience at that particular time, just as cheering does when they are playing well, as grown men it will do them no harm and should in effect drive them on to do better. As for Hurst to complain about it diverts the attention away from his set up at home where he must accept some responsibility for the defeat, as he would for the wins

Meh. Nothing exciting or noteworthy there - a similar sort of interview to those we always get. He doesn't like to criticise the players much (even if we think they deserve it!) and doesn't go overboard in praise after a good result, either. Can't see why anybody would get hot and bothered about this interview, to be honest.

Absolutely correct! I'm not sure Rodman would be first choice considering the form of Arnold or Neilson. Neilson was our best player in the second half. Oh by the way, do we know if Pell is staying he's got gradually worse and Clay is a better, tackler, passer and adds more energy.

Personally I admire Hurst for having the balls to speak his mind on such matters. I've grumbled and booed at a game but at the end of the day, the man speaks the truth. I'm frustrated with our inconsistent form and some questionable decisions and changes he makes but he is right when he says to look at where we are in the table.
If were given the option at the start of the season to be in second place in the table by the end of November, we'd have jumped at it. Now we're there, suddenly it's not good enough?

I said a few weeks ago I could not go to another game whilst Hurst was in charge, I like many others don't have the faith in him to deliver what this team should be worthy of, promotion! He has without doubt the best squad in this division and as someone else said, we should be walking this league this season. That's why fans are frustrated with his 1 up front negativity. Anyway I went yesterday, despite saying I would not go under Hurst again, big mistake, I'm out now, not wasting more money and time to watch the team that should be brutal if playing to their potential, just crumble due to lack of management. I want to be proud of Town, but it is always waiting for the fall with PH. As for booing? I didn't, but of course people are entitled, it is frustrating watching the best team on paper, fail to deliver again. He should have gone long ago and whilst still in charge, it will always be so near, but so far.

I did not notice anything in his interview to get our knickers in a twist over. He can only answer the questions put to him. He did change personel and formation during the game, ok maybe he could have done so earlier. His reamark about booing was a bit surprising given the frustration, perhaps he could have balanced it better by saying he does not like to hear it but understands the feelings of some fans. It happens at all clubs.

It does but reading some of the posts on here you would think it was only a GTFC issue. I've mentioned it before that I have never before or since heard booing like it at Sunderland when we went one nil up and Lawrie Mac was in charge of them. In fact I had a business meeting last week with a Sunderland fan and Lawrie Mac is a legend in being one of the most hated people in football for Sunderland fans. I would also add that managers are on a slippery slope when they start having a go at fans. Alan Buckley did and he alienated quite a section of Town support despite being one of our most successful managers ever.

Buckley often had a go at the fans for booing or worse still not coming to games ................................Thing is Buckley had every right to have a go , he had nothing to prove to the Town fans . Hurst still has everything to prove and should sympathise with the paying customers...........

I hope you don't mind me saying but in my opnion that comment is a load of bollox. No manager / club has a right to expect anyone to turn up at a game. Football is an entertainment business although having watched just about every Town game especially in the last 10 years or so that comment could be up for debate. The main difference between football and other entertainments is there is a loyalty factor with many of those that go to the games, but everyone has the right to make up their own mind to go to a match. I do go to every game but I don't have a problem with those that pick and choose, we should be thankful for them turning up at whatever game they want to watch.

This is the second time Hurst has made a remark about the fans booing and he's not coming out of it positively.
I fail to see what a manager thinks he gains by having a little dig at the fans. It only means they'll turn on him for less in the future.
I appreciate he's frustrated with *some* fans' reactions, given we're second in the league and it was our first defeat in nine, but context also plays a part. Because we've been doing so well, our expectations have risen a bit. Fans now demand wins while playing well too, and on Saturday we got neither.
You've got to be a special kind of manager to be able to whinge about the fans. Whether he was right to have a whinge is beside the point. The relationship between the manager and the fans is so imbalanced that you can't have a 50/50 ding dong battle in the press because you're not equals to start with.
Fans have all the power and the right to moan because they're the ones who pay to be at Blundell Park. Hurst gets paid to be there. So, in short, he's never going to win.
Which takes me back to my original point: what did he think he would achieve by having that little moan?

It was Buckleys comment not mine ................ Gy V Forest to name but one occasion when he said it.
Thing is though , i could take Buckleys Arrogance because he was and always will be our most successful Manager ....................................

You pays your money you have a say,
If they are playing well you cheer,
If they are rubbish you might boo, ( I don't )
In this case I think most of the boo's were directed at the manager.
As soon as Hurst starts playing a more attacking team at home games,
The less boo's he will get.

I am sure we would all like to see full houses at BP for every game but that isn't going to happen.
We can all talk about the fans that have given up, be it 1,000 or 2,000 but the only people to blame are those that allowed this club to sink to the level we now find ourselves at.
As I mentioned we should be grateful for those that still support the club week in week out, but like RichMariner says, the manager should refrain from criticising the fans for whatever reason.

Its a greasy plank that you walk as a manager responsible for activities on the field when you moan about others, that are moaning about what you are responsible for.
You just can`t win and thats where the job differs from others

Hey guys and gals it could be worse Liverpool spent well over £100m and have now lost 5 on the bounce. If you think our expectations are high imagine what it has been like at Anfield. No we did not play great on Sat and I was very disappointed about it, but we are second in the league with 1 defeat in ages and in with a good chance of promotion. Lets hope we are back on track tomorrow night and much of what has been written in recent days will be history. It is true as a football manager you are only as good as your team's last game.

If Hurst said we are second in the league once he said it 4 times,
He has no idea how passionate the Grimsby fans are,
BUT
When they see crap , what does he expect ?
Clap the boys off the pitch saying well played ?
