Novartis is a top tier COMAH site which basically means that it has some very nasty chemicals and they have to have a plan in place should the worst happen.

One part of the plan is that all of the neighbours, within a mile radius or thereabouts, are aware that they need to stay indoors, close all windows and doors and wait for instructions.

Having around 5000 people next door, in the open air with no means of refuge means that for this reason alone, it would never be allowed to happen.

This here is why UKIP are a load of flipping balderdash. They just come out with populist nonsense that sounds good to certain sectors of the populace, but when you perform the most basic analysis on their proposals, it turns out they have no grounding in reality.

I see Victoria Ayling is all over this, yet states UKIP won't be funding it. I can't foresee the wonderful free-market rushing to plough money into building a stadium next door to a chemical plant in an economically struggling town, Victoria. Shite electioneering.

I bet Fenty's drunk off about this too. They've not consulted the club, yet the GTFC badge is all over their laughable website (which looks like it was knocked together in Microsoft Paint) - http://grimsbyukip.webplus.net/page88.html

Seriously, what the hell is this? An image which has been enlarged so much you can barely tell what it's meant to be, with "TICK'S EVERY BOX" (sic) written on top. UKIP have the image editing and copywriting skills of a 5 year old.

If nothing else, UKIP in their naivety might make others in authority up their game, or fear for their future.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Anybody who believes this is a serious project is deluding themselves.

The Kippers will come up with any sort of unfunded bullshit they can in a brazen attempt to con people into voting for them and they are absolutely shameless about it. If you remember, at the last election, Farage even admitted their manifesto was a load of crap.

I understand that Grimsby is one of the few constituencies where there is a real chance UKIP could win a seat. Madness - it would be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

Not necessarily Pete. Like RP says, it could make other people up their game or look for better places and ideas than the Parkway. Not keen on UKIP personally but they may be doing us all a favour in the long run just by opening up public debate on other possibilities, however unlikely.

It's called Grimsby key, should it not be Grimsby Quay?

This is so basically a desperate political fudge. They don't want to annoy the voters of Park but at the same time they don't want to annoy the fans of the towns football club so they come up with a plan that seems reasonable until it's put under real scrutiny. But of course since the majority of voters don't have the time (or inclination) to look at the minutia of policies they will get away with this seeming plausible -  bit like the Boris Airport scheme.

There is a real danger in this as if UKIP do take control of the Council next May (which is certainly possible) then they will stop the Peaks Parkway application in its track while they carry out a "feasibility study" of their Tioxide plan" . If the result comes out as possible then it will give them a reason to block the Peaks Parkway plan and blame the club for failing to take up the offer of a new stadium.

It may be worth the club doing its own feasibility study before May of this plan so they can publish it before the election which will at least  make it harder for UKIP to argue for it during the election.

I admit I am  UKIP voter,

Only because in the area I live 90% are conservatives,

I can not vote for them and a vote for labour is a wasted vote,

Seeing all parties are getting a bit afraid of losing their seats to UKIP,

I vote for UKIP to give the others a kick up the backside,

UKIP are a good protest party but they will never get in power,

They might win the odd seat , I hope one of them is not my Grimsby.

So you're saying you don't want them to win but you vote for them anyway?
