Oh sh1t ANOTHER thread

In a neat little town they all call Grimsby
Apprentice to a tradeI was bound
And many's an hour's sweet happiness
Have I spent in this neat little town.

A sad misfortune came over me
Which caused me to stray from the land
Far away from my friends and relations
Never Betrayed by the black and white band.

Her eyes they shone like diamonds
I thought her the queen of the land
And her hair hung over her shoulders
Tied up with a black and white band.

While still a player, he was appointed caretaker-manager of Bristol Rovers in 2005. Impressing in the position he was handed the job permanently, and took the club to the Football League Trophy final in 2007, as well victory in the League Two play-off Final. Stabilizing the club in League One, he took Rovers to the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2008, equalling a club record in the competition. After two more seasons finishing mid-table in League One

He had a less than 40% win record and bar the FA cup run he took the team into mainly midtable. Sounds a bit familiar to me.

I think if we want a new manager who will hopefully get us out this league we are looking at big money.

Michael Appleton's record as a manager is awful. Average win percentage is 23% and again he doesn't have any managerial experience which isn't in the conference.
No thanks to Ronny Moore, Nick Barmby, either who the last time he actually had any success was almost 15 years ago and has since only seen teams struggle. We need a manager who knows all about the style and what it takes to get out of the conference and knows what he is likely to come up against. I also hope we avoid hiring an manager with sentiment as I don't think there is anyone out there with a connection or a well respected/ adored former player or manager at BP who could take the club forward. No thanks to Russ Wilcox and Brian Laws. *

If we was to replace PH I wouldn't be too bothered if the manager had conference experience or not. That's like saying we're a conference team so we need a conference manager to get out of it. I'd be happy if we got a good manager in, whether he's got conference experience or not. If he's good and can do the job then that's fine for me

If you look at most managers who have been successful down here the common factor of them all is that they have had previous non league experience and have learnt there trade in the non league. I want a manager who's knows what THIS  league is about. We could employ a manager who has had success in league 2 or league 1 but does that mean that he knows what quality's are needed for a successful conference side and  the tactical nous to get us promoted.
Still, Money, Cox, Edinburgh, Mellon, Mills, Evans, Brown, Westley, Wilder, Clough, Buckle all had previous experience in non league whether is be at a different club or the club they were present at but took time for them to understand what the league is about. In my opinion this is what I think we should be looking at and experience at this level should be top of the list for when selecting a manager.

I understand where you're coming from. But would you look for someone with conference and football league experience or just conference?

It doesn't really matter if they have football league experience or not. The short term plan at this moment in time is to get promoted out of the conference and the person who has the best ability to do that and get us out of it should get the job not the person who could get us promoted from league 2 to league 1 or league 1 to the championship as that is not a priority at this moment in time. Whoever we employ it will be a risk but I personally think the more safe and sensible option would be a manager with experience down here. I do realise Hurst hasn't been sacked but I think inevitable with our next 2 games.

everything's a risk in football.

Knowing Grimsby and Hurst we'll probably win our next 2 games.

If Hust was to get sacked, realistically who would be your man?

My top 3 fairly 'realistic' targets would be Gary Waddock, Neil Aspin and Gary Mills. The first two would be more likely but Gary Mills would still be possible I think.
