Alan Buckley, Grimsby hero who should always be remembered fondly.  While I would not be against him being in charge of the club and think those critcising his 3rd spell in charge of the club are judging him against his previous success, (never would of gone down with him in charge imo!) I would encourage anyone making this claim seriously to read his book:

The third spell took an awful lot out of him and I do not think he could bring the energy we need, or the passion he would want to bring.  He would probably do it for Grimsby but do not think it would be healthy for him or us.

He has already said he wouldn't want to do manage again  so it's not going to happen .. JF doesn't seem the sort of guy who would sack some one admit he's mistake and give him another go. And it was a mistake john ! So we need to find another Buckley quickly

Buckley with Woods as No 2. Don't people have memories?

The game has moved on a long way since Buckley's heyday as a manager.

As the Buckley Mk. III era showed, pace and power is of huge importance in the modern game as players have become bigger, stronger and fitter. Buckley was looking to get some good footballers playing together but they were blown away much too often as they were lacking the strength, size and pace to compete with the modern kick and rush style adopted by many. Look at highlights from Buckley's first spell at Town and you'll see some good football, certainly, but you'll also see a slower game with acres of space as teams weren't so athletic, compact and physically large. By the Mk. III time, the players we signed weren't skilful enough, strong enough or quick enough to succeed with a passing game.

He was also from the era where the manager could intimidate players (cf. Clough), but the modern day footballer doesn't respond to this, especially as they are usually only on a one year contract.

Even if he was willing to take charge once again, another Buckley era would be terrible, not least because he's got no contacts in the game at all these days. This was something else which afflicted his last spell at the club as he cheerfully admitted he'd not even been to a match for years before taking over!

No way we can have Alan Buckley, last season against Gateshead last season he spent the entire game calling them York he said it multiple times plus he doesn't travel to commentate on away games so i think he has retired and would never take the job plus he's getting to old now. John Still a man of the game who goes everywhere to watch players. I would go for Steve Burr i think he would come here is coaching a team have unearthed quality players like Joe Lolley Jamille Matt at this level Malbon had a very good season under him he plays football the right way who had a late start at building Chester's team after their re admission back into the league.
